I enjoy both. Probably give more than I receive though. Even in compliments.
I think it's best, to receive the same amount of pleasure, in doing both.
Receiving things is nice, but it's much more pleasurable to think back on the things you've given than the things you've received.
I am happier giving to others than I am receiving.
Depends on what's being received...
Depends on what is being given though.
Make sure you aren't giving your all for nothing in return.
Are you talking about a nice steak or a slap in the face?
It is better to give than to receive. You need to do things for people. Self-esteem, the ability to like yourself, only comes after you've done something that makes you likable. You can't bs yourself. No matter what you tell yourself or what slogans you memorize about how everyone is special, you'll think of yourself as special when you do something special.
If you think you're special when you haven't done something special, you're not healthy and well-balanced; you're a narcissist, disconnected from reality. Educators who try to instill "self esteem" in children are teaching them to disconnect from reality.
Sometime is better to give, sometimes is better to receive.
