Then you are surrounded by morons. There was only one candidate calling for increased military spending. I personally think that was one of the big reasons he won.
Well then I'm one of those morons, because I believe Hillary is a warhawk. It has nothing to do with Trump.
Princess Reset Button, could have been more hawkish as Sec of State. Though she also Really disliked Obama. Perhaps she set herself up for failure out of spite.?
Why would you think she wouldn't?
That was the assumption of some, as evidenced by the anger from a segment of his supporters on social media, but not everyone. With most people it was more a certainty that she was a war hawk, while Trump was an unknown commodity politically.
Becomes a different world once it becomes your responsibility.
I am torn
I would urge you to look beyond the pictures, there is compelling evidence to suggest we are not being given the whole facts.
Tis frankly the first pawn moved on the board in a long time. Don't get me wrong this is not near as far as we need to go. We need to build a coalition large enough that Putin will throw up his hands and bid Syria farewell. At that point we need to decimate ISIS to the point where they are a long lost joke. There then needs to be an arab coalition to determine the future fate of Syria. One preferably led by Jordan and Egypt.
Provoking Iran and Russia? Surely you jest. Tis like the mongoose hoping it didn't piss off the cobra. :) what praytell do you believe either of those countries would actually do if "provoked"? Honestly the only country the US has to worry about had its President sitting across the table from ours today when the command was given.
Nah, we won't. A mouse tiptoeing across a carpeted room would make more noise than what we shall hear from the aftermath.
Wow, guess we won't be having debating intervention.
After 7 years, how much more debate can there be? After red lines drawn by Obama and then ignored after 1400 more were killed by Sarin? This was one of six possible airfields. The airfield that is suspected the latest chemical attack came from. If we really wanted to we could have taken out all six overnight. This was a message sent loud and clear. We shall now see what Assad and Russia does. My guess.. not a damn thing.
Well, considering that throughout those years he argued from the noninterventionist position, enough debate to gain support from those who voted for him on the pretense that he wouldn't intervene and certainly not without going to congress. Even G. W. did that.
Dw....i am always looking at motives.
And i do believe that assad needs ousted. He is mass murdering his own people. But, i think this isnt going to change much.
I find the timing, suspect.
Maybe flexing his muscles for china?
Better believe it Carla! "Huge Applause" two birds one stone. Very few pick up on the obvious. You are one I've got to keep an eye on. :)
And so it beings...
I had hoped I would not live to see WWIII
Israel will bomb Iran, Russia will bomb Israel and Saudi Arabia and then it will be 'all in' around the table
I seriously doubt it. Israel would have already bombed Iran if they could actually have any affect on hardened targets. Most of those targets are so far underground that it would take boots on the ground. Won't happen. Secondly Saudi Arabia isn't alone, Egypt, the UAE, lots of money. Russians aren't known for cutting off their fingers to spite their hands. What shall come from this? Absolutely nothing other than Assad **** his pants.
Now they are reporting that we told Russia before we launched. Photos coming out showing no planes (or any equipment at all) anywhere near the airfield.
We told Russia, Russia told Assad.
The whole thing was a staged photo-op
On the contrary. Do you know what kind of damage 59 tomahawks can do to an airfield? It's done closed down. This was nothing more than a message, one I think sent quite gracefully..
Do you know happy Putin would be to help rebuild an airfield? It will be operational in les than 2 weeks.
Wanna bet? Seriously. :)
Let hear the terms, exact what are we betting on?
That the airfield will be rebuilt
That Putin will stick with Syria
That Israel will be emboldened and send missiles into Iranian territory
That Russia will retaliate by pulling out of the Deescalation Agreement or with strikes on American allies. or both?
1. WW3 I'll bet that if an internet still exists.. I will write a weekly message saying you were right. In the mean time a weekly message from you saying it hasn't happened yet for the next 30 years would be cool. :
2. Are we going to agree on a timeline for this? :)
3. Ok this one gets fun. I bet you Putin Completely abandons Assad by the end of 2019.
4. Nope. Why would Israel lift a finger when the US is positioned in front?
5. Good luck to Russia at that point. Not going to happen.
To think that he planned this to occur as his dinner with Xi ended. Can you imagine him leaning over to say: "A short time ago we bombed a Syrian air-base, I have to go give a statement about it. brb."
That orchestration will cost him dearly. Our relationship with China is symbiotic.
And China apparrently gave us quite a bit of promissory leverage on NK during that meeting.. wrong?
According to who, Trump???
How's about we not argue it and just see if that happens...
Do you think we would be sending an entire Carrier force to NK if that wasn't the case? You are smarter than that. How about China abstaining in the UN vote on Syria/ Russia. Apparrently Trump and Xi had one hell of a conversation.
China abstaining from a Syria vote is perfectly rational given that both Russia and U.S. have veto power. It's always easier to sit and watch than to take a stand.
The dust no sooner settled from our Syria bombings and the potus is back to declaring we aren't getting involved. Worse yet, after calling Obama foolish for considering intervening in Syria, he now blames Obama for his own flip flop on Syria. Trump's all over the place, I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Especially not now.
Same goes for China. I'll believe it when I see, I'm smart enough not to until then ;)
Perhaps. We shall see. :) though yes I wouldn't call it a flip flop. Obama's outright cowardice is now being tested through the new admin.
You know me well enough by now, I'm sure, to know that I'm no fan of Obama... there is literally only one point wherein my and his ideas intersect.
But give him his due, he went to the Congress for authorization on Syrian. They turned him down. Trump referencing that as Obama's 'cowardice' only evidences how truly petty and immature he is. Same for his diehards that repeat such nonsense.
There is no testing of Obama here, he flunked his 8 years. This is all Trump. Truth is, he didn't know as a much about policy as he thought he did and now he's having to reverse course on key issues. That's not a problem so long as you admit to it, the problem is that he can't. I believe he is literally incapable of admitting that he was mistaken. I hope he proves me wrong.
You cannot wade in and alienate China and Russia just because you feel like it.Whatever the true situation in Syria -and do any of us really know the full truth- risking starting WW3 is not in any way justified. If he wades into North Korea the world will be plunged into WW3 with nuclear bombs flying everywhere and the majority of the worlds population extinguished. All because America couldn't come up with a decentcandidate for President .
It was actually merely 59, if you count it properly.
Then again, for the past two hours, I have been wondering, whether I should or should not warn people about an EMP attack.... It may happen. It might not happen. It's a tricky one, especially, when nobody is telling the public Jack Shit.
Though that would more likely be a Chinese attack..
No, it's apparently not happening.
Someone caught them in time to prevent the attack. Still, no public warning. Why would they... If something hasn't happened, it has never existed.
What it really comes down to is Obama drew a Red Line over Chemical Weapons. Assad thumbed his nose and said "neener neener neener, I'm going to use them anyway because your Red Lines mean Absolutely Nothing!" Which it turned out was absolutely True. Russia after talks with Kerry, Obama, and Hillary decides to step in and magically save the Credibility of the Administration through a completely bullshit deal where Assads best friend will "assure All Chemical weapons are removed from Syria, and will be administrated and confirmed by Russia." Anybody with half a brain knew it was bullshit. Though it was an easy way for Obama to save Face. That's all it was. Then incomes a new Administration. Assad and Putin are honestly curious to see if America is as Gutless and as full of shit as it has been the previous 8 years..So they go ahead and use a chemical weapon on their joint enemies. Kill dozens of innocent people with weapons which were assured no longer exist. They wanted to see if Trump would draw a new Red Line and be a slave to the bureaucracy of ass kissing pacifists.. they were wrong. He simply "borrowed" the original Red Line set by the previous administration and acted on it. The question that everybody Should be asking right now is "Why are there STILL Chemical weapons in Syria???!! Though nobody will ask that one. Because it is obvious.
