Your 8 year old kid steals your car and endangers your daughter and anyone else that they might have encountered on the road (of which you would be responsible) and you think nothing should happen? To each their own I guess.
I doubt it changing anything.
If that was my kid, he would not be able to sit down for a long while. He could have killed himself and others. I hope the cops gave him a stern lecture, one that he will never forget.

My father stuck me in a truck carrying 3,000 gallons of water and sent me across the desert. No instructions. He followed in a pickup. I downshifted into first gear to drive through a wash and he scolded me for going too fast. That was my first driving lesson.
