I would take it to a jewelry store and they can appraise it for you. I have a couple of gold chains I'd like to sell too.

Weight it on a gram scale, in a hock you should not take less than $23 a gram because they will sell it for more than that. As a retail sale you can ask one-and-a-half times as much as at the 'cash for gold' pawn
I would just hang on to it. What it's worth and what you get are two different things. You will likely get ripped off.
