Wait, can we talk? What do you consider "living"? I hear people constantly harping at the kids, you have to go to college, you have to get a good job, you have to earn a big salary, you have to do this and you have to that. Most kids are good kids and they do their best, mainly because they have no clue about what to do instead. A lot of them eventually realize that they have been lied to, and a lot of them never figure out what is wrong.
Look, take a paper and label two columns "HS grad" and "College kid". Assume they live in equal conditions with average expenses, the HS grad making an average wage and saving half, and the College kid living on school loans. The HS grad's net worth is above the College kid's right from the start, and no matter how good a salary the College kid gets, it takes ten years to life just to get up to zero. If the College kid buys an insurance policy, he is worth more dead than alive.
No school on the planet will teach you any such thing.
So...kids shouldn't go to college...
In most cases, college is just four more years to grow up in. The most important thing you get in college is your address book: professional contacts in your field.
Nothing beats the cost of living, it is the best.
Good stuff. You really can't beat that explanation either.
Live below your budget and don't buy into all the "must haves."
