I refer to them as lightening bugs. I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods yet.
I was shocked to see them this early. About a month.
I can't wait for them to show up here. It is one of the best parts of sitting out in the evening
Lightening bugs - June / July in the backyard with Mr's Budwick and the pups, sharing thoughts over coffee and lightening bugs twinkling - it's mesmerizing.
Lightening bugs, they usually appear here the middle of June.
I grew up in the Northeast and we always called them lightning bugs.
I've called them both, as well. When I was a little kid living in Florida, they were often a magical part of the early evening. Since I've been back, I never see them. I don't know why that is....
Lightening Bug and I grew up in Arlington, VA, so not necessarily "Deep Southern." Now in western TN and saw my first this year about a week ago.
I call them both. I'm in Missouri too (sadly) but
Nothing sad about Missouri. All States have their ups and downs. That being said I almost forget just how beautiful it is here, until I go someplace else. :) Sure I personally wouldn't want to live in KC or SL. That again will be the same with most States who have rough Cities. I've lived in virtually every State in the US minus Alaska and Minnesota. There are a few magic places in this country. As far as I'm concerned the Ozarks is one of them. I also loved Willimantic CT. And Maui. Though I also love nature in extreme forms. And boy as you know it is abundant here. :)
Im in Phoenix. Ive never seen one.
