Since this is your third post on the same thing, I guess it's time to point out some facts to you.
The President has "Classification Authority". That means he can classify, declassify or change the classification of something. It's always been this way. It has been done a number of times by various Presidents. Usually, it just doesn't get that much attention and isn't "leaked to the media". One of the more famous cases was when Kennedy provided Top Secret information to the public, (and world) on intelligence information, and our intelligence gathering capabilities (including photographs) of the Soviet Union Missile silos in Cuba.
Sharing classified information with other Countries happens all the times and generally, it's a good thing when done for the right reasons. If we have classified information about terrorist activities, it is beneficial to selectively share that information, just as they share it with us. It is up to the President to decide when this is needed and that is why he has this authority.
Others, who have divulged classified information without that authority, have committed a crime.
I find it interesting that "current and former U.S. officials" leaked the very information they claim Trump leaked to Russia to the press, and which they describe as:
The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.
If is so restricted, why is it being shared with former officals and the press?
The Post is withholding most plot details, including the name of the city, at the urging of officials who warned that revealing them would jeopardize important intelligence capabilities. “Everyone knows this stream is very sensitive, and the idea of sharing it at this level of granularity with the Russians is troubling,” said a former senior U.S. counterterrorism official who also worked closely with members of the Trump national security team. He and others spoke on the condition of anonymity, citing the sensitivity of the subject.
"Everyone" knows about it? Then it cannot be construed as "tightly restricted".
If the purpose of this information being shared with us is to combat ISIS, then it seems counterproductive to withhold it from others fighting ISIS...no? But it does beg the question of just who this "partner" is and why they do not want our allies fighting ISIS to know.
Furthermore, whoever these unnamed "current and former U.S. officials" are, they are clearly revealing the very classified information they are bitching about Trump revealing. The differences being that Trump has the authority to do so and they do not, and that Trump revealed it to a government that is actually and actively fighting ISIS. The unnamed current U.S. officials must have released it to the former officials, and either the current or the former officials, if not both, have released the "very sensitive" and "tightly restricted" intelligence to the press (and thus the world), as it clearly indicated in the article that WaPo was withholding the city name and "most" details.
Trump is certainly prone to shooting off his mouth, and can justifiably be criticized for doing so on many occasions. There is no proof this is one of them, and if defeating ISIS is truly the goal, the opposite just may be true. As to this leak, it is not only hypocritical, but also makes one wonder what the true goal of these unnamed sources is, as it clearly isn't about keeping classified information secret.
As President, he DOES have the right. But the BIGGER QUESTION, do current and former US Officials (former as in no longer in the government and had NO access to the meeting last week) pose a greater threat to the United States by LEAKING information to the press in their attempt to destroy the current Administration? I say they do. If they have information that they feel poses a threat to the US, there are legal ways to bring that information forward, including the oversight congressional committees. But that is NOT their goal; their goal is to destroy the Trump administration and, in so doing, destroying the United States!
