That's a pretty loose definition of "island"...
What happened to the ice caps melting and much of the coast being under water?
Islands and beaches come and they go. It's the nature of the seas and tides. What is interesting is that just a few years back they were complaining that the Outer Banks islands were disappearing.
They were. It has everything to do with the currents.
No one complained about the changes in the shoreline 35 years ago. They're were few island residents and tourism was mainly fisherman. Little motels, no tvs or phones.....
Now the shoreline is lined with vacation homes and large hotels.
Now, the shifting sands threaten investment property. The possibility of lost money is noisy.
