The fad is fading. Look up used tiny homes. That is way to much togetherness for a good relationship.
It always swings back and forth. Right now it's a sellers market, but it will go the other way. It has never been easy to afford a home, but sometimes it's better.
In some areas yes.... of course sooner or later there are just going to be too many people for the world to handle.
Actually it's due to over population, which is due to better healthcare and people having sex.
Of course if you want to thank socialism for better standards of health/living (and sex), then I think socialist will gladly take credit.
But I personally would thank medical science and give them the credit.

More demand of a limited supply, the most costly it will be. In other words, the more people that want land, the most expensive it will be, and the more expensive it is, the less affordable it is.
It's basic economics to the questions at hand.
I agree with you about the government regulation and taxes surely add to the expenses.
Also my economy supply and demand comment is based on capitalism.... and you're wrongly rejecting it because your stuck on a single phrase... when phrases can be used in more that one way.
It's simple capitalism economist... the more demand you have, the more it is going to cost. It's simply as that.
