Agreed. The problem is often that people believe their narrative to be the truth. It has been my experience that most will not consider, or even listen to/look at anything that doesn't support what they believe to be true. Their default position is to simply ignore or argue with anyone presenting a differing opinion. People are drawn to those who reflect their own views rather than engaging in actual discourse in which ideas can be exchanged, examined, expanded upon, altered, or discarded. No matter how large the venue, people tend to arrange themselves into echo chambers, resulting in the stagnation of society.
There is no way to know whether something is true, it could be someone's opinion that's accepted as the official truth, the only thing that can make us believe for sure is evidence.
You are a good person. But do you have evidence for that?
Nope, the closest to proof would be the subjective judgment of people who know me.
First of all...thank you for NOT upvoting or upLoving me. Why didn't you?
Secondly: you have a lot of evidence of being a good person: you haven't killed your girlfriend...yet...ha...your parents are speaking to you...you're going to school at another level...
I don't always remember to do that ok?
And I don't always pick on people that forget.
Sooo.....what were we talking about? :)
One of my favorite quotes:
Faced with the choice between changing one's mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof.
John Kenneth Galbraith
Yes... It's almost like you have to become a lawyer in your own life...
Many people view the truth as "problematic." You can lose your job and receive death threats against you and your family simply by speaking the truth, and disagreeing with their hateful, regressive narrative.
Logn - please send a copy of this to every media outlet, political headquarters and drop leaflets over Hollywood. Oh, and don't forget the UN!
I am wearing underwear.
Telling the truth, I swear.
Also about to have a video conference with folks, who decide what to tell the public about the less concerning matters. I might be out, but I'm still in. That's the truth, as well.
It's CAN BE difficult to make some people realise what the truth really is....
It's so much easier to have one truth to know than any one lie or story to recall outside of the truth. No need to complicate things. A lie[whether good intended or not] will never be of greater value than truth.
