Also about work, finally, fix, and hope
+503Disney Channel Movies in a nut shell: Things are okay, not great, but not bad, then some thing bad happens and they think they find a way to fix it but it fails. Then all hope is lost and nothing will ever get better and finally a miracle happens and they all work together and every thing is FABULOUS! the end. Amirite?
Oh yes, we hear that all the time, especially for certain "innovations" and "super-performing" devices or products.

Yes exactly. The whole thing can also be summed up as "FUCK OUR OLD PRODUCT, BUY THE SAME THING WITH SLIGHT DIFFERENCES SO WE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY!!!!"
(Also, another thing that annoys me with a lot of products these days is the misuse of the phrase "Solid State." Solid state refers to a TV, radio, etc. that uses transistors instead of tubes. Using it to apply to something like a smartphone makes no sense.... unless there actually are smartphones out there that use tubes... in which case, the hipster or steampunk crowds would be all over that!)
Yes, sadly enough, they are wasting a lot of good products and replacing them with short-lived, "one-way" items. Furthermore, health and environmental issues are considerable, if proper treatments and equipments are lacking.

Ever wonder what all those advertising terms really mean?
NEW - Different colour from previous design.
ALL NEW - Parts are not interchangeable with previous design.
FOOLPROOF OPERATION - No provision for adjustments.
ADVANCED DESIGN - The advertising agency doesn't understand it.
REDESIGNED - Previous flaws fixed - we hope.
YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT - We finally got one to work.
MAINTENANCE FREE - Impossible to fix.
MEETS ALL STANDARDS - Ours, not yours.
SOLID-STATE - Heavy as hell.
