depends on who did it and why.
A mentally deranged person with no real motive other than "I like fire"
A politically motivated eco-terrorist trying to prove 'global warming'
A politically motivated alt-right trying to punish evil leftists
A drunk teenager smoking doobies on every hiking trial to understand nature
Never one-size fits all
Vic you are right. Sadly sometimes the person who likes setting fires is a fireman. That happens sometimes . They want the excitement work and pay a big fire would cause. Whoever it was they should go to jail especially if it was a careless smoker throwing butts around carelessly. Only good thing about a fire is the cleaning out it does, leaving fresh areas and ash for new plants to grow.
Arson is deliberate, so I would charge them with murder and put them away for life, possibly in solitary confinement.
Last I heard, 34 people have died as a result of the fires and at least 170,000 acres have been burned.
It might have been 31, but still ...
I agree. Then, factor in all those who were injured and the property damage.
If you ever saw the town of Santa Rosa? You would be shocked! Beautiful town and all those great vineyards ruined!
I know two people who have vineyards up there but they have been evacuated. That was their income!
It's a big country. There's not much we can do about the natural disasters.
This has been an unusual year. We've had 10 back-to-back storms and hurricanes this season which is unusual and hurricane season doesn't end until November. Mother Nature is not very happy with us.
Not just us - seems as though the entire Earth is convulsing.
They are to be treated like murderers...probably Life in prison.
Thanks... And intentional personslaughter....too!
Lock them up with Bubba..
There ya go!
One of many...
It'll give them something to think about...lol
Could be! LOL
Wasn't Bubba the big lipped friend of Forrest Gump who died in Vietnam?
It's a really nice movie, young Tom Hanks is in the role of a lovable kindhearted dummy with an interesting life.
It's a great movie.
I always think of bubba being a big fat redneck. Some probably do end up in prison.
Great idea. lol
Since people have lost their lives, I think it should be treated as a mass murder. Life without parole.
When I fantasize my solution would be to put them in a tanning booth, turn it on high, then bring them out after they've had a good "tan". Then put them back in there, for another great "tan."
But in reality, they should be charged with murder and prosecuted to the extent of the law.... say life in prison.....
lol The world couldn't take two of the orange one. lol
Burning at the stake.
If it is arson we potentially have hell on our hands.
Should we be fortunate enough to make an arrest give due process then fill their lungs with smoke from their burning flesh until dead.
Yep not unlike the couple ages 99 and 100,married 75 years who wouldn't leave each other only to die in misery minding their own business in their home.
It kinda depends on the context, whether someone got hurt, was it the owner hoping to get some insurance money, was it someone else so on.
Well obviously they like fire. I wouldn’t necessarily be against a prison cell knee deep in water. With glow sticks for light.
Prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
I don't see arson, but it could be from a tossed cigarette or from a car stopped in the dry grass. The Thomas fire as well as the Sylmar fire both started in the brush and not a structure. The Bel Air fire was from some homeless with a camp fire just off the 405 fwy and it got away from them. Accident, not arson. I still think both fires were caused by lightening strikes though, at least I sure hope that is the cause.
The 2017 wildfires were disastrous.
Formerly, whole forests were destroyed to make space for agriculture and urban space.
and you might have heard of the scandals around arson in South Europe
