Koreas to sign peace deal, pursue 'complete' denuclearisation

The Korean War ended in 1953 but there has never been a peace treaty signed. But, today, the two Korean leaders met and announced that they WOULD sign a peace treaty and also promised to pursue the end of nuclear weapons on the peninsula.

Who would have guessed that President Obama and Dennis Rodman would have had so much influence?

* END OF SARCASM ***
This is an amazing development. IMO made possible by the outsider Trump and his foreign policies.

What has already happened is progress

@2751848

Gorbachev had a more favorable impression of Reagan than the current revisionists at the Daily Kos, who characteristically fail to note the long-term love affair many progressives had with the (now) "brutal regime" throughout its 75-year history.  hehe smilie

Do we?
I don't believe an actual declaration of war was declared by Congress.
We have a treaty to aid South Korea.
But we don't need a treaty ratification to end hostilities which were never officially declared.

Yes, of course let's be sure to add Janelle to the list of people responsible for this momentous event. [I hope Dennis and Barry will share the stage with her - cuz you know, those two have HUGE egos]

It's just nice to see peace between two countries that have been at eachother's throats for the past 60 years. I wonder what will happen next?

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the two Koreas shaking hands...

If a peace treaty is signed, and the Korean peninsula is really de-nuclearized, Trump and Xi will deserve much credit, however loath the American MSM would be to give Trump credit for anything.

Despite his obviously high IQ, Hitchens could be quite ignorantly silly at times, probably due to his ideological biases. For example:

"(not that there are any non-ballistic missiles—a corruption of language that isn't his fault)"

What, pray tell, Mr. Hitchens, is a cruise missile? Or what was a V-1 buzz-bomb? That's right, the are/were non-ballistic missiles. "F" in elementary physics, Chris. biggrin smilie

Furthermore, besides Eastern European communism collapsing, the economy did very well under Reagan, and there were no US wars on the scale of Iraq or Afghanistan. And all you have to say is, "Some of us on the left had also been very glad indeed to see the end of the Russian empire and the Cold War."

Hah! Some, maybe, but not many of the old-school useful idiots, I bet. biggrin smilie biggrin smilie biggrin smilie
