Quiz: https://implicit.harvard.edu - continue as guest, next page click on Proceed at bottom...then pick one... I picked "Race IAT". Doing this quiz might surprise you.
This test showed that I automatically favour white people over black...but isn't it natural to have more feelings for your own race?
But it also gave me a clear feeling of what unconscious bias is...and that it really does exist.
Can't seem to find it. How about a good link?
Here is a direct link. Just pick the one about race. Or try them all
Got an odd answer. Guess I might have taken the wrong test!
That's the same one I found, might look again after supper.
Black people still have a definite culture in this country, and it mostly involves bad manners and loud voices, especially among the women. That prompts white people to leave them alone, which is the main reason they maintain that culture. Then they object to being left alone, thinking they are entitled to some gifts or something. (They are well aware that white people often give each other gifts.) Whites resent mooches, especially mooches with bad manners.
And there you have your "racism".
Aside: I once bought some strawberries because they were on sale, and gave them to my landlord, who was black. He was blown away by that!
After taking the test ... I see a problem with it.
People who are right handed will tend to react faster to the I-key option by default.
No, I haven't checked; I'm not conscious of my unconscious.
But the light/dark skin test is totally ridiculous. It asks questions like "Do you strongly/moderately/slightly/equally favor dark/light skin?" Seems pretty conscious to me.
But then, what else besides foolishness could I have expected from Harvard psychologists/sociologists?
You have to go really fast on the quiz to access your unconscious...
Oh, like word-association tests.
