Global Warming Will End Mankind in 20 years or Less

As we go through a world wide heat wave it should be obvious that nobody is going to even try to do anything about it. The media won't even make the connection to climate change. The fact is it's already too late. We have set in motion things that can't be undone and the merchants of doubt have done their job well. They convinced enough people it wasn't real to keep the oil gravy train rolling as long as possible while destroying every ecosystem on the planet. If you think it's warm now just wait a year or two. This is going to go bad very fast. There is more carbon (methane) about to be released than during the entire industrial revolution and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. They have already recorded massive methane plumes being released in the Bering Sea. This is just the beginning and things are moving way faster than expected.
Mankind has managed to create the 6th mass extinction event and there's no turning back now.
Do not ask for whom the bell tolls.

20 years from now, global warming will be predicted to wipe us out... in 20 years..

That's the problem with these foolish predictions, they hope the majority of people will forget the predictions they keep making, that never come true.

For the sake of argument, I'll go with .. "The fact is it's already too late" and just not worry about it.

I feel that it is likely too late to repair much of the devastation humans have caused to certain crucial ecosystems, but I doubt if the human race will be wiped out in anything close to the next 20 years.

I'm still waiting for the WW III in 2020. That should fix a bit of the problem. Less humans to be worried about.

I think the poles melting and revealing ancient cities..(which will piss them off and they'll want to destroy us)....Will happen first.

@DandyDon I think the poles melting and revealing ancient cities..(which will piss them off and they'll want to destroy...

Actually, uhmm... The pyramids they have in Antarctica - seriously this time - are quite a bit of a mystery. Then again, they have the same structures on the Moon... So... Really, it's anybody's guess.

Unlikely.

If you look at the temperature records from ice cores, our present temperature is about as hot as planet earth gets. Some people would have you be alarmed by believing the temperature will continue to rise, but if you go by the chart patterns, the next thing that happens is an ice age, we're actually past due.

Now, we have altered the climate on earth by altering the way sunlight meets the surface of the planet. There used to be vast forests covering large portions of the earth's land mass, now most of that ancient timber is gone, and if there are trees at all, they're not mature enough to really block out the sunlight the way the ancient forests did.

As a result, where formerly sunlight would fall on huge trees and never hit anything but their leaves, (which the trees keep cool through evaporation) now it falls on young trees, or fields, or just barren land. The surfaces the sun falls on get much hotter than the leaves of mature trees, and those hot surfaces heat the air.

It's elementary, but the "scientific community" is either too stupid or too corrupt to acknowledge that the changes we've observed in earth's climate are a result of changes we've made to the earth's surface, namely deforestation.

But will it kill us all? Well, we know that normally there would be an ice age about now, and that would be a real problem, a genuine threat to our survival. But since we've basically eradicated a huge portion of the earth's cooling system, I'm not sure we'll get one, and if we don't, that's probably a good thing in terms of our survival.

@Maze Unlikely. If you look at the temperature records from ice cores, our present temperature is about as hot as...

Some people do need things to worry about and some scientists do need more grants, to keep their (cough!..jobs...cough!) studies going.

Oh it can get hotter and it will. A lot hotter. What you mean is this is as hot as it's gotten in the last 800,000 years.
They've recently recorded temps in the Arctic 60* above normal.

It's not only what the heat does to people or even rising oceans it's everything else. Half the worlds coral is dead. There are over 400 expanding dead zones
and 95% of sea turtles are female due to warmer sands. There's half the phytoplankton of 50 years ago. That's the oxygen in every other breath you take.. There's almost as much plastic as there are fish. The oceans are dying
Then there's the methane.
20 years is actually conservative. It's probably more like 10 because when shit starts breaking down, and it will, there are about 400 active nuclear plants that take years to shut down.

What do you think all those FIMA plastic coffins are for?
They know the shitstorm is coming

Welcome to the first man made mass extinction event

wrong. earth has gone through cycles, like it or not these global warming anti oil activists have flip flopped between global cooling and global warming since oil was discovered,

they are looking for a way to make a quick buck of your state of being gullible and fear

@deusvult wrong. earth has gone through cycles, like it or not these global warming anti oil activists have flip flopped...

No they haven't flip flopped and this is not a natural cycle.

The funniest part is you think scientists are looking to get rich from grants. That by itself is ridiculous. But when you add in world wide collaboration to promote a lie it becomes insane

Climate change is good for business!
Polluted water is good for business!
Bad air is good for business!
More sick people is good for business!

Who do you think the govt works for?

You know what?
Never mind.
You guys will never wake up no matter how much evidence there is.
Just keep following marching orders and hitting those talking points while the world crumbles around you.

@urwutuis No they haven't flip flopped and this is not a natural cycle. The funniest part is you think scientists are...

yes they have do some research, they have gone from global cooling to global warming to climate change. and yes it is a natural cycle: if it isn;t then are you going to tell me that earth went through and melted from multiple ice ages in the last 300 years? give me a break. stop lying!

you need to stop being a sheep and following the herd. if you think climate change is not normal you have no business taking about science. their where (according to SCIENCE) prerods of time where earth had MUCH MUCH more Co2 and was warmer, earth was also (according to scientists) GREENER and full of life, earth has also gone through ice ages, and then back out of the ice age, how is that possible if "this is not a natural cycle"??? who is to blame for these changes if not nature?

green cars, green energy, green this green that, their is a crap tone of money to be made off global warming fear mongering, like it or not. and these scientists you speak of? who are they? tv celebrities? like david suzuki? he sure as hell profits off our fear of global warming world end. these scientists who say its man's fault are bought out by left wing enviro nazi capitalist fear mongerer.

yes earth's climate is changing, yes science says that, but it always has changed. like it or not

Speaking of environazis, ya gotta admire Al Gore. First his forebears get rich on oil (Occidental Petroleum), and then he gets richer by hawking global warming, all the while living in four or five sprawling mansions and using private jets.

How's that for chutzpah? biggrin smilie

@deusvult yes they have do some research, they have gone from global cooling to global warming to climate change. and yes it...

I think it's you who needs to do some research.
We were in a natural cooling period which would have continued but carbon emissions have reversed the trend.

We're killing ourselves. And nothing is being done about it.

Human extinction in 20 years?  Highly improbable.

Much more likely is a population collapse, which is the usual sequel when a particular species overpopulates, be it gypsy moths or humans. The reduction of the human population to about 1 or 2 billion would return it to a level that the Earth could sustain indefinitely.

True way way too many humans. There used to be plagues that killed off a good bunch in years past. Probably time for another good culling of humans, I thought aids was going to do it but no they learned how to keep the diseased kinda alive.

Well, let's see. If we put the world's population in the US, that would be about 3 people on every single acre of land in the country... vastly unsustainable for a comfortable American existence.

"If everyone [in the world] were to adopt the average diet of the United States, we would need to convert all of our habitable land [in the world] to agriculture, and we'd still be 38 percent short. For a New Zealand diet, we'd need almost twice as much habitable land as we have."

3 people per acre is very livable, and their is enough land in the rest of the world to support everyone. stop being a global elitist!

they are the ones who want you to believe we are over populated because they want the world to themselves.

You are assuming that the world population will stay at 7 or 8 billion (as does the clip, which then says that the population will drop thereafter). Otherwise, the hypothetical 3 people/acre bedroom community in the US would not have the rest of the world's land available for sustenance purposes.

Either way, it's a tacit admission that the world population cannot continue expanding at the current rate indefinitely.

it hasn;t in the past why would it now? withou climate change earth woul dnever have had an ice ace. what we have now is no where near as hot as historic temperatures, nor as cold as historic temperatures. enough with your fear mongering

Can't see it happening it gets colder here instead of hotter.

@LorraineTwevlehundredRaineTwelvehundred Can't see it happening it gets colder here instead of hotter.

That's what GW does. It causes weather extremes. Local weather and climate are not the same thing.
That it still gets cold in the winter doesn't mean the planet isn't warming.
Temps rec recently reached 64F in the Arctic 80 above normal
