I have always liked the song and I don't think it promotes drugging women, but that's JMHO.
I've always loved that song! My husband and I used to sing it together. Society is going off the deep end here.
I was glad when I saw that! I see no problem with that song whatsoever!
But, you live in Ga, where women are still considered property, so not surprising that station would play it over and over. That said, I have no problem with the song, it was a different time in history.
I think your wife would scare me, lol. How did you do with that storm that came through this weekend? Did you get any snow, or much rain? It sure made a mess out here.
I think they should they bring back the old Amos N Andy reruns too?
I agree, Amos and Andy, when on the radio were a couple of white guys, only got black actors when it went to TV in the 50s. All in the Family was a breakthrough show in its time, and pretty shocking. Blazing Saddles is just plain funny. I always liked the Laurel and Hardy handshake. lol
No, it does not. From what I've read and heard, most people think making a big deal about the song is a bit ridiculous, even many...*gasp...self-proclaimed feminists.
"What's in this drink", with what we know today about date rape, makes me cringe a little.
But we should never try to censor nor change any form of art. And we should always be mindful of the era that something was written in.
I think the radio station grossly overacted.
Not nearly as much as everyone overreacted to radio stations pulling it. I like the song but if they don't want to play it it doesn't bother me.
Lets all be mindful of the time it was written. In fact, lets apply that thought process to every piece of art.
Some radio stations have removed it from their holiday rotation list, and some are leaving it up to their listeners.
I still have that song on my I-Tunes play list, the Ray Charles version and still listen to it quite often.
I don't think I've ever heard that whole song in my life....just parts of it at a time.
No idea what the offending parts are..
Just a thought...if they went after rap music with the same scrutiny, they wouldn't have time to go back and pick through songs from years ago...they would be busy with rap, from now to the meltdown from global warming..
You can't criticize rap content... such criticism would surely be denounced as racist in certain quarters.
No doubt about that..
just Eminem I forget what makes him different....
I'm shocked, SHOCKED and outraged by this sexist, male-chauvinistic song!
Any woman subjected to it should have a me-too moment and immediately press charges against anyone singing or playing that disgusting song in her presence!
Umm.. didn't you mean #me-too moment?
I left the #ing to the discretion of the woman in question.
YOU ARE KIDDING,Amirite?
Ridiculousness run amok!
Gotta admit, though...anything Dean sings "bothers" me, but in a good way.
I've always liked that song, people are just getting crazier by the day.
Taking lyrics out of context.
Why is this news? Does FOX report on every single song Dean Martin's daughter sings?
Why is anything news? :)
I don't know about you, but I wasn't even aware that this song has been bothering some people for many years now, until the last week or two.
Usually things are news when they impact a great amount of people, things like wildfires, or policy changes, snow days, local contests and performances, not the songs Dean Martin's daughter personally prefers.
Here are a couple news items from CNN that don't seem to meet your standard for news items:
The Royal couple is pretty significant, so is Christmas, I can see how that latter has a greater impact on society, especially among more aristocratic or Christian communities... the first article is pretty worthless and not news worth unless Keith Richard's entire discography revolves around alcohol, in which case that's incredibly impactful news from an incredibly impactful band.
No Fox doesn't report every single song Dean Martin's daughter sings.
several news stations reported the same thing,Along with a dumb teacher who
banned candy canes from school, because if you turn the canes upside down the letter
J reminded her of the name Jesus. I pity the people who have to walk with canes around
that dumb ASS.
That idiot principal has been put on leave, and even ABC is reporting it.
Several news stations? The only news stations I've seen are far right (largely, Breitbart and FOX) using this minuscule and trivial tidbit, blowing it up as some massive outrage and getting their fanbase all riled up against liberals at large for the actions described in a random isolated incident.
IT IS A MASSIVE OUT RAGE when you have some brain damaged teacher telling
the kids candy canes are banned, because if you turn it upside down.It has a J for
Jesus.I would want that teacher the hell out of the school.Who knows what else she
is brain washing the kids with. It's not an isolated.
One elementary school in Nebraska banning religion-based gifts isn't an outrage and is the definition of isolated because it literally didn't happen anywhere else at all. You fell for the easiest trick in the book, FOX news got you mad about something trivial and insignificant just by putting it in a headline...
Also, telling kids to keep their present secular isn't brainwashing, in fact it'd probably be more akin to brainwashing to force non-Christian students to engage in Christianity.
I love the Pearl Bailey version of this song and have for decades.
I don't listen to rap but I'm pretty sure the lyrics are far worse than persuasion attempts in this song.
i personally don;t like it, just not a song I like, however, i think its complete utter BS that they would remove it from the radio. this censorship is rediculous, and if we let it happen, its going to get much worse, you think dictatorships happen over night? hell NO! they start off with little things like this
