Poverty is one wealthy Mo-Fo!
Monday I was at a council meeting that they are raising our taxes by 30%, the county already do so by 17% and the school board raised how much they are getting too. They seem to do it every year - I think they are addicted to our money.
The article came out and most of the comments made at the meeting were in the paper. They
did not print what I had to say - that I've come to believe that the government is causing the poverty. What I should have added is that at least in middle class property owners.
We worked for decades only to see it given away to the "poor."
Yup. And well written.
And all the anti-poverty spending for the past 50 years has not significantly changed the poverty rate.
If you can't make it on your own, government doesn't owe you a living. Find a better job, or starve, die, I just don't care. There should be no assistance for poor people, and no subsidies for corporations or farmers.
Didn’t actually see you taking that position. Or was that sarcasm?.. a really bad day? Lol. Though I agree with you.
Yeah bad day, but most of that I stand by. I think welfare should be for a limited time. I have no problem helping someone, but it isn't a forever thing. And I'm 100% against subsidies for corporations, or farmers.
Huh. We actually agree. :)
Unless it was corrected in the post, 880,000,000,000 is 880 billion.
1,000 = one thousand
1,000,000 = 1 million
1,000,000,000 = 1 billion
880,000,000,000 = 880 billion
Beat me to it thinker. :)
Again...always trying to fix it without solving the real issues.
And how much of this Poverty Assitance actually trickles down to those who need it?
Capitialist countries don't want poverty to end...just like they never want to find the cure for the cold/flu.
Well, at least one of the political parties in capitalist countries don't want poverty to end.
How else would they buy votes if it did end?
Oh hon...it's just not the CAPitalist way. What would be the point to striving?
Hear about darling Theresa with an H? I try hard to breathe for her and tell her to hang in there.
But Sukie... they do strive... for political power, that is. Do you think they give all that other people's money away for nothing?
Hang in there, Theresa! At least you're doing better than that Jeremy what's-'is-name.
The issue with minimum wage is that it simply gets passed on to the consumer. You watch next year in Los Angeles and Seattle. The price of a Big Mac will be 8$. You don’t actually solve anything by shifting monetary grievance from the poor to the middle class. If anything it just depreciates the dollar. Add on State Taxes and everybody should start cooking at home. Both cities are close enough to $15 average. All you do in the long run is make money worth less.
I really hope you are wrong. 4% would be devastating to the world currency market. Might even lower the National Credit Rating. .4% would even hurt. Just imagine if they raised sales tax 4% across the board....
