That was colonialism. Modern imperialism works differently, though it is no less costly for the losers...and they truly are, quite literally, owned and occupied by the victors today. It is just accomplished through the banks, corporations, permanent military bases, and quietly cut deals and threats.
very true... I never understood why north America didn't get free gas after the gulf war... although Afghanistan did make heroin pretty cheap
"We" (meaning GovCo) got everything desired...almost. Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and I believe Somalia and S. Sudan, are now on the central banking system; the pipeline Unocal couldn't negotiate with the Taliban is built, and protected by US bases; poppy production has had bumper crop after bumper crop in the past decade and a half; we are still there (there's still minerals to be had); Iraqi antiquities were robbed and destroyed, and we've yet more bases near Syria and Iran; Halliburton, Academi, and other Cs of the MIC have profited obscenely; we got a ratline through Libya to Syria, made the people dependent upon corporations by destroying the Great Man-Made River and other infrastructure, and paved the way for the slave trade; we got Iraq and Libya back on the Petrodollar...but alas, Syria and Iran have yet to be conquered...so we aren't going anywhere just yet.
i'm no longer have fear to sound crazy... the flamethrower one is the best
opiates are pain medicine too.. many people don't even realize their supporting terrorists when they use these medications.
