Who made the more compelling case for their position in last night's public address on the government shutdown and border security, Donald Trump or Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi?

President Trump addressed the nation last night on the government shutdown and border security, then most stations aired a response from Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. Who do you think made a more compelling case for their position?

The families of those murdered by illegals are the most compelling factor of this argument. Every death caused by an illegal was preventable and we should not stand for any more in our society.

@dru18 Illegals cause far less violent crimes than citizens do.

@ozzyboy Every death caused by an illegal was preventable.

Of course... but as far as the progressives are concerned, those deaths are just collateral damage on the way to the greater good... political POWER.

@ozzyboy Scary, isn't it?

Yes, and these criminal hypocrites are beneath contempt.

@ozzyboy Every death caused by an illegal was preventable.

But since there are so few, (my point) doesn't make much sense to spend the money and use the resources to punish all of them.

@ozzyboy Tell that to the many victims of these illegals.

Sure as I tell the millions of victims killed by American CITIZENS!!

@dru18 Sure as I tell the millions of victims killed by American CITIZENS!!

Illegals are not supposed to be here so their killings, raping, skin trade, a majority of drugs,etc could have been preventable in this country. Check into the percentages and then get back to me with some realistic stats.

@ozzyboy Illegals are not supposed to be here so their killings, raping, skin trade, a majority of drugs,etc could have been...

And the percentages are low. That is what I have been trying to tell you. Yeah, Charles Manson wasn't suppose to kill Sharon Tate, he thought Dori Day's son lived there, but she is dead all the same. My point is, you would have to have a crystal ball to be able to thwart all the murders that happen in this country.

@dru18 And the percentages are low. That is what I have been trying to tell you. Yeah, Charles Manson wasn't suppose to...

Start with the ones who broke the law to get here in the first place. Do you even know who the angel moms are and do you even care about American citizens?

ozzyboys avatar ozzyboy Trump made a more compelling case +1Reply
@dru18 Illegals cause far less violent crimes than citizens do.

Might that be because there are about 20 million illegals and about 300 million citizens?

And if you mean on a per capita basis, so what?  Even if what you say is true (which it probably isn't), why do we need the extra criminals?

@2844966

Trump lies every time his lips move....and that's a fact.

@2844966

Professional liars? You must be thinking of Trump who has lied every day since he first learn to talk.

Nobody. It didn't move the needle one bit.

Trump made the better case, of course, but he could have read his teleprompter text better.

Pelosi and Schumer came across as the usual lying hypocrites that they are.

@Thinkerbell Trump made the better case, of course, but he could have read his teleprompter text better.   Pelosi and Schumer...

Trump came across like a tired old man with very low energy. Just because he didn't flub up his written speech, does not make him convincing.

@StarzAbove He came across as not being sincere....which isn't unusual.

Wasn't his venue, and it showed. Only a desperate clinging Trump supporter could think he made a compelling argument.

@Thinkerbell

Yeah, and your point is? For your own sake, please don't post anything Obama says. The mere fact that he is articulate, intelligent, and shows class when speaking, just makes Trump look more like the clown he is.

@dru18 Yeah, and your point is? For your own sake, please don't post anything Obama says. The mere fact that he is...

Oh, yes, I'll give him that he's better than Trump at reading a teleprompter.
Until it malfunctions, that is, or he tries to go off script. biggrin smilie

And on his worse day he could still beat the hell out of Trump. Trump takes first place in being the sloppiest speaker in the history mankind.

@dru18 And on his worse day he could still beat the hell out of Trump. Trump takes first place in being the sloppiest...

Yeah, too bad for Hillary that Obama beat her in 2008, probably to his own handlers' astonishment, and left her to be beaten by the "sloppiest speaker in the history mankind" in 2016. hehe smilie

@dru18 Show me a 12 foot wall, Will, and I will show you a 13 foot ladder.

Quick, dru!
Explain to the Israelis that they wasted $450 million on their border wall!

"After breaking ground in 2010, Israel completed the 242-km. (150-mile) fence in December 2013 at a cost of around $450 million. Whereas about 9,500 Africans crossed into Israel illegally in the first six months of 2012, less than three dozen did so in the first six months of 2013, at which time the major components of the barrier had been completed.

Illegal immigration through Sinai dropped to 11 cases in 2016 and 0 in 2017."

@dru18 I am so sick of that false and stale comparison.

LOL!  Typical  lib response... a blanket denial with NO evidence.

So tell us, dru... WHY is it false?
Is it because there are no 13-foot ladders in Israel or Africa, perchance? hehe smilie

And the only reason you say it's "stale", is because you have NO factual rebuttal.
What's really stale is your liberal "old news" mantra, again bereft of evidence. biggrin smilie

@Thinkerbell LOL!  Typical  lib response... a blanket denial with NO evidence.   So tell us, dru... WHY is...

Thinker, it is a whole lot longer, and on much rougher and unpredictable terrain than the one Israel has.

@dru18 Thinker, it is a whole lot longer, and on much rougher and unpredictable terrain than the one Israel has.

Dru, you are dead wrong... yet again.
The great majority of the 2000-mile US-Mexico border is desert.
Image in content
"The total length of the continental border is 3,145 kilometers (1,954 mi). From the Gulf of Mexico, it follows the course of the Rio Grande (Río Bravo del Norte) to the border crossing at Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and El Paso, Texas. Westward from El Paso–Juárez, it crosses vast tracts of the Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts to the Colorado River Delta and San Diego–Tijuana, before reaching the Pacific Ocean."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M..._States_border

And if Israel can build a 150-mile wall, then surely the US can build a 2000-mile wall; the US has 40 times the population and 50 times the GDP of Israel, and our wall would only need to be less than 14 times as long as Israel's.
http://worldpopulationreview.co...ntries-by-gdp/

P.S. Don't they have any 13-foot ladders in Israel or Africa?  I thought you claimed that was all that was needed to circumvent a wall.
P.P.S. And if you think Israel doesn't have any rough terrain, think again.

@Thinkerbell Dru, you are dead wrong... yet again. The great majority of the 2000-mile US-Mexico border is...

I never said it didn't have rough terrain, but the 150 mile wall is built mostly over flat desert terrain, and is easier to supervise. This proposed wall of Trump's is going to built over a much more expansive and difficult area. There will easily be tunnels built right under it unless we get a lot more funding for agents and high tech ways to detect people.

@dru18 I never said it didn't have rough terrain, but the 150 mile wall is built mostly over flat desert terrain, and is...

Now comes your predictable weaseling and backpedaling.
Most of the US border with Mexico is also mostly flat desert terrain.
Didn't you read the link?  No, of course you didn't.

And I explained to you that our terrain is NOT more difficult and expansive, not when you compare the relative resources of the US and Israel, but of course, you had no comment on that.

And don't you think the Israelis know about high-tech detection of people?  And still they built walls, both in the desert and on difficult terrain like the Golan Heights.  And of course you had no comment about that either, except to lamely say you never said they had no rough terrain.  And yet, the Israelis' wall works on their rough terrain as well as in the desert. How can that be, if it would be as impractical as you claim?  Are the Israelis fools, who just aren't as wise and knowledgeable as you are? hehe smilie

And finally, you had no comment about the 13-foot ladders in Israel, and why they don't work there, but somehow would work here, except to compound your nonsense with tunnels. Yes, of course we would also need human and technological surveillance, just as Israel does, but it is perfectly obvious that a wall would prevent coyote vans packed full of "refugees" from simply driving across an open border in the desert, or do you think they would carry their vans over the wall on ladders or dig tunnels, undetected, big enough to drive vans through?
