Came from a little town in southern Indiana, French Lick, and went on to become the best NBA player ever. In my opinion.
Against ALL odds.
Now that I have time to comment:
Larry Bird didn't have a free "youth camp" for underprivileged kids, or a basketball clinic for youths of a certain ethnicity. He didn't even have enough money to buy a regulation basketball hoop, so he cut the bottom out of a rusty old 5 gallon bucket , nailed it to a pole, and practiced with that for hours a day. His family was literally DIRT POOR.
Larry Bird wasn't a circus act. No, he didn't need to spin around in the air 3 times to make two points.
All he did was score points, make plays, and win championships.
Larry Bird. Greatest of All Time. And Bill Walton was the most dominant college basketball player I ever saw.
Thank you for a great comment, everything is true. He is truly the greatest NBA player of all times.
