Most likely some kind of air turbulence.
One of my worse nightmares. Not so much, in the winter, but live in one of the most windy cities in Canada and I live (sort-of) near the airport and airplanes do fly over the house I live in. I don't really keep track of how often, anymore.
I'm no pilot or weatherman but I guess that's possible.
