If I wanted to work there I would apply
Maybe so but I don't get paid to do so...perhaps if I received compensation and a W-2 I might be more supportive of this system.
heard of em...yes...do we have one where I live no. It still doesn't change my stance on I shouldn't have to work a full time job and turn around and work a part time job at the grocery store
I don't have to bag my own purchases plus, I got all the time in the world...I don't mind waiting.
Ya gave it your best shot
I haven't had good experiences with those things, myself. I'd rather stand in line for a human cashier, when one is available.
Not a fan ... I think it eliminates jobs.
But there are always staffready to step in and help.Last week I scanned some ibuprofen cream and the message'approval required' boomed out and kept doing so until a staff member appeared and entered a code.If she'd been on a checkout in the first place wouldn't have happened.
Apparently you have to be over 25 to buy ibuprofen cream in the U.K.!
Tolerate them-but won't use them unless I have to.
I've only used it once, don't care for it.
I don't care much for them...Produce seems to always cause a malfunction.
I don't like them, so I always choose a cashier.
I don't do self check out. I was at Safeway a while back and one of the Safeway employees asked me if I would like to use the self check out. I told him no, because I don't work there.
I've used them but would prefer Sue to check us out. She is very good, always helpful and caught a mistake that saved us $7.00 on a marked down container of scallops. I told the office they need to give her a raise.
I prefer a cashier, but if there are lines and I only have a few things I’ll use the self checkout.
I flatly refuse to use it.
Love them. I really don’t like talking to people and avoid it as much as I can. And I mean no offense to anyone that’s posted so far, but issues with self scan are 99% of the time the customer’s fault. Coming from someone who has worked at a grocery store for 3.5 years, people tend to ignore instructions.
Never seen one in my life
You are lucky.
Why? How does it work exactly?
I only usually use them when I only got a few items. I think that is what they are meant for, not a bunch of items. Also, they malfunction, more than you would like. Also, some only accept credit and debit cards.
Normally, you go to the machine and in some stores, you scan a points card, the ones that don't you press something on the screen, then scan (or type in codes for some items) your items and put them in the bagging area, one at a time. Once you are finished, they might ask how many bags you are using, you type that it and use the thing you put your debit or credit card in or use cash to pay for your items.
Usually, only use it when I got a few items or so otherwise I rather use the cashier. Those machines aren't meant for a lot of purchases.
