I wouldn't call it a bonding experience. And I see no thrill in killing any animal, but to each his own.

@StarzAbove I wouldn't call it a bonding experience. And I see no thrill in killing any animal, but to each his own.

Neither would or do I, of course. On the contrary, as a matter of fact. Those were the words of the governor and some others, who think this sickening legally sanctioned and encouraged slaughter of certain animals is a great idea.

He's a sick governor. I see no delight in killing any animal, unless it's rabid or in pain.

There are very few circumstances, in which I can imagine getting delight out of killing any creature. Those you mentioned wouldn't be one of them.

The governor is a she, by the way. This is her showing her delight about the program, on her FB page: https://www.facebook.com/govnoe...0409?__tn__=-R

I would hate to see the person who finds this senseless sadistic crap entertaining, or "bonding". Shame on the governor, and shame on the people of South Dakota.

One of them can be seen, in the second link I posted above. Sadly, I've heard and read those words used many times, in reference to the hunting, trapping and killing of animals.

I just popped over to her FB page and left a comment. She is getting her butt kicked by a lot of people on that page.

The rationale behind this mass slaughter, is protecting the nests of pheasants and ducks...so humans can kill them.

Oh that just breaks my heart to even think this is being done. While they might not be everyone's pet they don't deserve this inhuman kind of treatment

Mine too, and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it, except sign whatever petition against it I can find. It almost surely won't make any difference, since the majority opposition voiced by South Dakota residents didn't even stop the plan from proceeding. It's already been going on for a month.

I should probably apologize, for this disturbing post. I haven't been able to get it out my head though, since I read about it recently.

You have nothing to apologize for. Hopefully it raises some awareness. I had no idea such a thing existed.

Don't like the sound of that.

That's really sick.

@hootowl That's really sick.

Yes. Based on comments I've read concerning the "program", an encouraging number of people agree.

Piper, you have nothing to apologize for. This is disgusting. Like you I don’t believe signing the petitions will help but it is doing a little something to show how many of us find this appalling. Thanks for making us aware of this

I guess you know, that I would do that too. Did you happen to look at the governors's FB post?

Although the whole thing makes me sick and angry , I was especially shocked to see opossums and skunks included in this months long slaughter of wildlife.

Yes. There's one at the bottom of this article, and I'll post the others also:

Here's another one...

As I mentioned to LP, I have little hope the petitions will make a difference...still, at least signing them is doing something.

Since there is nothing about this post that is remotely advocating any such thing....perhaps you ought to go ahead and submit one that does.

Perhaps I agree with you, but that is not obviously not what this post is about.

There is no doubt, that the majority of ALL animals killed for human consumption every year anywhere, meet their fate under FAR less than "ideal" conditions.
