Jean Vanier who recently passed away ,in an intreview on the CBC, was grateful to his father , a former army General and Governor- General of Canada, for having placed his complete trust in him when he was in her late teens and early twenties. Do you think that this paternal trust or confidence is an essential element of success in life or at least a guarantee of success in his or her endeavours. amirite?

No, I don't think it is an essential element of success in life, and definitely not a guarantee of success in one's endeavors. That someone treats a person as important and trustworthy in their younger years though, is without a doubt a very big factor in how that person feels about themselves.
