Yet so many undeserving people on this crummy planet receive respect and tons of deserving people get treated like shit cuz of their position/age... amirite?
No, I don't think it is an essential element of success in life, and definitely not a guarantee of success in one's endeavors. That someone treats a person as important and trustworthy in their younger years though, is without a doubt a very big factor in how that person feels about themselves.
