Are there people who are against that? It seems like a pretty straight forward biological fact

There are people who don't care about facts and think far more outlandish things than that. I met lots of them.

More outlandish than that? What can it be?

I mean, I understand people who believe earth is flat, of vaccines cause autism because those aren't things you can know from experience, but you should be aware that humans have organs like other animals

Well right now people are burning down 5G towers because "it spreads" corona virus.

I dont want to stir some controversy or attack anyone that is just my experience, but most people who said it to me were religious. They believe that humans are completely different thing than animals because God created us different and they refuse to acknowledge it because they think the animals are something lesser and they feel attacked like that. Like our relations to other living beings is somehow degrading them to their level of inteligence. I once brought up the argument with organs and DNA and they just say "that we were created with the same materials but we are different thing". I also met non religious person who said that and in her case it was even more absurd because she said we are something different but she had no God to back up her in that. Google creationism you will find plenty of people with that kind of thinking.

In that case they just don't have the right definition of "animal" I think, that's like someone constructing a table, sticking a book under it and saying it's not a table anymore ; OK what they did is probably unique and sets it apart from other tables but the definition of table doesn't say anything about books
