Airbenders could probably waterbend by manipulating the air around it and freeze/evaporate it, amirite?

Was it ever shown/hinted that they could manipulate temperatures? Besides changing pressure to do that?

I'm mega sad the idea of void bending (manipulation of air bending to create vacuum) wasn't explored in the series.

You're right the idea wasn't explored per se, but there is a scene in Korra where "void bending" is used. It only happens once iirc.

Technically speaking, every time zahir (ain't native English speaker, don't know how to spell names) made someone suffocate he used void bending. And what scene are you talking about ?

You would need the same level of skill as blood bending, or metal bending. You would need to move air away from a source, without pushing air into it. Unless you used physical walls to shape or provide the container or you might be able to do by stripping the O2 levels until someone passes out but this would be hard to do.

I know, you're right, it would be hard, but it is possible due to mechanics of bending. And more over, to perform void bending you not only need a certain amount of skill, you also have to comprehend the concept.

Think about how water bending is about bending small parts of the water, fire bending is about moving the field of energy, earth is bending the inside of the rocks, but with airbending what is the mechanism of moving the air, because with water you can move the water away from an area and keep all the water out by moving the water, with air because you would spend enormous stress and energy to change the pressure more than a few millibars. If you touch the air, why not just burst someone lungs? Force air inside their mouths until they can't breath, a near vacuum is hard.

Sorry, i didn't get what are you talking about. Are you trying to conceptualise void bending, fail and give up ? Or you are saying it's so hard that it's hardly possible ? In Aang's story lightning bending is considered hardly possible, only 3 benders are fully and 1 more barely capable to execute lightning, so what ? No one should try ? The other thing is if some air bender in the times of air nomads would conceptualise void bending, he/she would rejected it due to destructive nature of void bending contrarvene air benders' philosophy.
