I don't see why he would knowingly take such a chance. His wife is worth hundreds of millions, so he wouldn't have needed the money.

However, he is stupid enough to have inadvertently disclosed classified information, so he may have given it to the Iranians for free, or he may even have done it for free on purpose.

Oh, yeah - he willingly gave it up. For money or not isn't important. The man belongs in prison, or worse, for treason.
