someone who high will laugh at this, someone at middle shrug it off, while someone who low... whoa dude, cool down, like what the hell
Well of course to most people it wouldn't, but there's around 8% of us out there that get to join Mensa for it. Resulting in chances to meet and bond with people just want to be brainy. You only think it'll never make you happy because you choose not to understand.
Or if you've succeeded it's only because you got lucky with intelligence, not because of your effort.
It's true I don't think knowing your IQ helps. If you're smart you already know it. Of course if you're not smart you also probably think you're smart so... ignorance is bliss?
This is why knowing your IQ is a good thing.
Why?
Because you know you aren't one of the idiots who just thinks you're smart. You'll know you really are. Or you'll know you're an idiot. Hahaha.
True. Sucks to be them.
Programmers aren't necessarily highly intelligent. They are just good at a thing. Many people are average but good at something. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, well educated, skilled people. Many very diligent, studied for years, worked hard. No measure of IQ. Now the person in that field who breezed through school without much effort, that's your genius.
Intelligence is your ability to learn, not your ability to be good at 1 thing.
Right? And if you're a genius you could always do better. And if you have a lower IQ than you would expect, you feel bad about being less than you had hoped. It's a no win situation.
Why would anyone think that merely knowing their IQ would make them happy?
My point is that it's a zero sum game. There's no answer to it that will make you happy.
Hmm, ok.
Probably should have phrased it "there's no good that can come out of knowing your IQ"
False. Look up Mensa
I can relate more when you word it that way. In that case, I think it depends very much on whether a person is honest with themselves or not. People who lie to themselves benefit from nothing, but think they benefit from everything.
It's just sort of a no win. I'm reasonably successful. I try to be honest with myself but if you stack me on spectrum I'm either an overachiever based on iq or underachiever. And if I'm an overachiever, it means I'm not as smart as most in my socioeconomic class. I can take either, but either conclusion will lead someone to realize that they are deficient somewhere and isn't a conclusion most people want to draw or something that most people feel great about after making a conclusion.
Mine brings me much happiness. I'm neither of those.
It seems like there are more options than this…
More like, My IQ would make YOU depressed
