+352 You shouldn't tell teachers when they make a mistake that benefits you on a test they grade, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's just dishonest and will not help you in the long run.

With something as trivial as a point or 2 on a test, it's not hurting anything.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Should I? Yes. Am I always going to? Nope.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I always do. What happens is that they don't change it for my honesty, and I score some points to get on their good side.

I always tell them if they accidentally give me bonus marks. Sure I could take a couple points on a test but I figure honesty is more rewarding.

I used to tell them, but they just let me keep the pointa anyway so I stopped wasting my time.

I got 15/8 on a chem lab instead of 5/8 once, and it pulled my average over 90. So i'm definitely staying dishonest on that one.

Okay I disagreed with the post but in that case I would definitely not tell the teacher.

Academic Dishonesty tsk tsk

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's happened to me a few times, and every time I told a teacher, they'd just change the grade back. One teacher still didn't like me for the rest of the year.

Pretty much all my teachers told us that if they messed up and gave us extra points, then it was our lucky day, and that we didn't need to tell them about it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lol at people who think they're so high and mighty on their horses they'll tell the teacher they messed them up by two points. Really? What fucking teacher pets, if somebody did that in my school we'd beat the shit out of them.

"Lying is ok if it benefits you"--Mr. Melvin, history teacher.

A majority of my teachers have given extra credit in the past, for confessing their mistakes. This is only a good idea to do after the first quarter however, to learn better if they are the type to take the points back.
