Flavored condoms are not really necessary...you don't need a condom for oral, amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Technically yes, you do. STDs can still be transmitted through oral sex. Of course, most people don't know or care, or even take the notion seriously. However, syphillis is never sexy...
by Anonymous14 years ago
Only thing I have to correct is it's an STI now lol.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I've heard STD and STI. It's just disease vs. infection. Is there some sort of mandate out there requiring it to be STI instead? (Btw, chrome thinks that STI is a typo, but not STD. Weird.)

Preforming oral sex without a condom can put you at risk for:
* Chlamydia
* Cytomegalovirus (CMV)
* Gonorrhea
* Hepatitis
* Herpes Simplex
* Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
* Molluscum Contagiosum
* Syphilis
So stay safe, wear protection (yummy flavored or otherwise), and get tested!

A very small percentage of STD cases are contracted via oral sex. Many of the diseases can only be transmitted if blood or an open wound is present, so it's easily preventable in many cases. Using condoms for oral is really not necessary unless you or your partner have an STD already.
There's a risk for everything. Shaking hands with someone puts you at risk for contracting an illness, but that doesn't mean everyone should wear gloves.
by Anonymous12 years ago
It's still an unnecessary risk. If you're with someone you trust then I wouldn't use a condom for oral. But if someone were to say, have a random hookup, then you really should. You don't know what that person could have or what you could have and spread (if you're prone to unsafe sexual practices). I myself don't give my guy oral with a condom, but we were both tested before becoming involved and we trust each other not to be involved with another.
Edit: Also, fun fact, some STDs/STIs can get in your eye!
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah, I was speaking about sex between two people in trusting relationship. Obviously the risks are much higher in other situations.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Well yeah, but still. In general people need to know that there ARE risks with oral sex, because it does happen.
by Anonymous12 years ago
or maybe the girl likes the taste of cherry better than the taste of dick. ever think of that?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Even in a committed relationship, it is still recommended that you use a condom during oral sex if you have not been with your partner for at least 6 months. That way if they have an STD and don't know it they won't spread it to you on accident. The six month grace period gives enough time to let any possible infections become known.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Exactly. I personally always get tested between partners *just* in case, and insist that they also be tested (though I've only been with two people, so it's not much lol). But I believe that even still, some tests won't be positive within about 6 months (though I could be wrong).
by Anonymous12 years ago
Guys, I understand your points, but let's be real here: oral sex with a condom on SUCKS.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Is this meant to be a Jersey Shore reference?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Not positive but I'm pretty sure I made this post before Jersey Shore was a show. Or at least before I knew what it was.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Or just wait until marriage, then no worries. DRRRRRRRRR
by Anonymous12 years ago
Wait until marriage to get a blow job? Lol. I hope you're joking.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Hmm. I can go either way with this one. My boyfriend of over a year has HPV, which can be spread orally, but I was vaccinated for it long before we got so physical.
So I would say if you are in a steady, monogamous relationship and are positive you and your partner are both clean or at least protected with a vaccine, then condoms are not needed.
But if you haven't been dating long or are unaware of anything they may be carrying, GO CONDOMS.
