People are not fully aware that movies are fiction because they quote the characters instead of the author, amirite?

Well, wouldn't want to make the mistake of misappropriating the quote if there's more than one screenwriter or if the actor ad libbed the line. Quoting the title I suppose would make more sense then though.

Quoting dialogue a fictional character used doesn't mean the person can't tell the difference between reality and fiction.

It's the people who send actors death threats and such that can't tell the difference between reality and fiction.

To be fair people associate characters with actors who portray them, and how "quotable" a line is is often attributable to how well it was delivered by the actor.

People do know its fiction its just funnier qouting some yellow banana minotaur thanks some guy

Probably easier to quote a character rather than finding out which writer wrote that particular line.
