You don't have to have to stew or be bitter. I don't think OP's take is healthy because you shouldn't place the onus of your happiness on circumstances outside of your control, but you can absolutely choose not to forgive or forget and live peacefully by cutting the person who wronged you out of your life.
No point in holding onto hatred, but don't believe you should "forget" either. just cut them out, say hey i hope you improve and have a good life, i want nothing to do with it though
Correct, it's ok to have a chip on your shoulder and stew until you're bitter if you want to.

Forgive and forget benefits the tertiary people involved, not the victim.
I might forgive, but I sure as hell won't forget.

Same here. Forgive but don't forget, acknowledge what has happened and move on. Cut that person out of your life if you have to
Like they say: forgive your enemies, but remember their names.
