Man, you're getting absolutely roasted here and it's well deserved.

My brother in christ, if people were forced to be home all the time at night, they will definitely use more power at night, not less. People aren't just all going to sleep because they're forced home. Night owls exist, insomniacs exist.

Even if worked as you say with everyone going to sleep, the burden on power during the day would just be twice as strong. This negates any supposed energy conservation, not to mention would be impossible for our electrical grids to handle.

All of your points are dumb, but the assertion that this would solve the energy crisis is absurd.

I dont think he knows how electircity works in the first place. Like there is a reason why its much cheaper at night... 🤦‍♀️

But what about dawn? What if I like waking up at 3 AM and going out? I've met your demands of going to sleep.

Btw we couldn't even get people to wear a mask during a pandemic good luck enforcing a curfew

Prettydottys avatar Prettydotty Yeah You Are +5Reply

So basically work all day and be confined to your home the rest of the time. That's bootlicking to the max.

Let me guess, you're not a fan of your girlfriend going out with friends to have a good time?

"It's not a totalitarian regime, guys! We just want everyone to get their beauty sleep!"

I laughed at this guy clearly not knowing how residential solar works.

"Wouldn't need giant batteries to power our homes"

You're not off grid with solar and for it to power your home off grid or during a power outage, you would need multiple large batteries connected to your system.

Get ready for a real unpopular opinion

Are you sure this is real? This is so comical it almost seems like a troll.

Op justs thinks dictatorships work

Just to verify so we have some wierd setup now where in the summer time I could potentially work a 16 hour shift but in the winter time maybe only up to 10. Of course this would be the case in the southern states.

Some of the northern states are gonna get really screwed. Seattle gets down to only 8 hours or so of daylight so if someone has an hour long commute they may only get 6 hours of work. A more extreme would be Alaska which sees some days as short as 5 hours long.

Me and the boys scratching the serial numbers off illegally aquired guns to do crimes past curfew

Authoritarian solutions are never a good idea. You're either a psychopath or are crippled by your need to "help" other people. Live and let live man you'll feel better.

What about people living inside the Arctic or Antarctic Circle? Are they just forced to stay inside their houses for weeks/months during the winter?

My first problem with your reasons listed… you just expect people to suddenly get enough sleep by being at home at night? Or being forced to be home at night?
Can't tell you how many people I know who are too busy to get enough sleep or they just straight up have insomnia or something.

Besides I work late nights and I like it because I can go to bed late (which works for me!) and get up late (which also, works for me!)

if people didn't abide covid curfew.....why on earth would anyone think this will work

And what about people without houses?

The only part I disagree is that they use any sort of reasoning before taking your rights.

Does your rights pay billions of dollars in lobbying? Mr. amazon lex luthor guy does.

Wait a minute, legs aren't dangerous. Bad people use their legs to commit crime, but legs themselves don't commit crime.

You trying to cut off everyone's legs is an infringement of my rights as a responsible leg owner.

We have a People problem, not a leg problem.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever read.

I dont even know if i personally considering this an opinion. Opinions are usually based in some form of reality. This is just straight up incorrect.

I cant even begin to actually address each individual part, because all of it needs to be individually explained as to how its incorrect

We would still need to build giant expensive toxic batteries for rainy days anyway. Your most important point does not make sense.

@Mrtechnohawk We would still need to build giant expensive toxic batteries for rainy days anyway. Your most important point does...

Plus, we have hydro, wind, wave, nuclear - all of which happily supply power during the night, so pushing all activities to the daytime would actually exacerbate the problem. Peak demand is the most expensive and difficult to meet.

Well, I guess it is less severe than the Thanos approach to the energy crisis, but after that I'm out of anything positive I could say about this idea.

@monsterallergies So just gonna jail all homeless people?

It will SOLVE homelessness. Cuz then the homeless people will be forced to go the go home! Then there not homeless anymore. This guy is a genius.

People like him are why totalitarianism is easy to implement. There's always people who lack critical thinking skills who try to problem-solve. They just skipped learning how to solve problems and jumped straight to throwing in their opinion on it.

"People are overworked"

So what about people who are unemployed, or work in non-traditional hours, or choose their own planning (such as entrepreneurs or independent artists), or who are disabled and can't work, or retired people, or regular workers who simply are on vacation / week-end, etc.

@Openeyes "People are overworked" So what about people who are unemployed, or work in non-traditional hours, or choose their...

Also this curfew would mean go to work then go home and no one can have a social life. Idk about everyone else but if I'm overworked spending time with friends and having a pint helps me relax.

How are you going to enforce sleep?

@Pheniz21 How are you going to enforce sleep?

The same way you enforce anything! Violence!

Heinerprahms avatar Heinerprahm Yeah You Are +4Reply
@Pheniz21 How are you going to enforce sleep?

What a silly question... everyone would be forced to buy sleeping pills. At their own expense ofcource. And if you wake up 1 minute early, you'll get a shock from the anklebracelet that everyone is now forced to wear.

Same happens when you are out of your house late, every minute, 1 shock.

Tanmoykayesens avatar Tanmoykayesen Yeah You Are +3Reply

Have you considered that there are people, like me, with autism, where my happy place is late night drives, quiet, the peace of night... There's way less opportunity for me to experience sensory overload, overstimulation, or melt down. And I definitely know I'm not the only one. This would be a huge mental health detriment for neurodivergent people, and there are FAR more of us than you'd think. Many go undiagnosed sadly. I did until recently. ND also includes bipolar, ADHD, etc. My husband is bipolar, and that's how we unwind and reset our emotional states - Long, late night drives.
