You can still get a horse.

You don't have to charge your car if it's not empty… just like normal fuel

@potatobunny But it becomes empty after 500 miles. ANd it lasts 8 hours to charge it.

Nonsense. My Kia gives me 540km of range, and takes 45min to charge to like 80%. After driving for 4 hours I want a break, so no big deal.

@potatobunny So for every 3 hours you take a 45 min break? Do you think that is good?

Absolutely. Where I live, the highway panels encourage people to take a break every 2 hours.

Not entirely true, many fast chargers (Tesla) can do a 200mile charge in 15 minutes. Most people wouldn't drive 500 miles in a week either.

Well, first you need a car that is priced as much as a Ferrari, then you need a fast charger, and then you need to get to one that isn't necessarily in your way just to charge it.
This is not what most people understand a car to be. Almost everyone that buys an electric "car" buys it for commuting. I would dare to say everyone.

My neighbor just bought a Tesla. Has a range of 400 miles. She's had it a month and has yet to charge it.

She's about to go on a 700 mile journey. There are charging stations along the way. She plans to charge it while eating lunch around the half-way point. That's a bit more than a 'commuting vehicle'.

Sounds to me like the very basis of your argument is wrong.

They cost more? Say it ain't so.

As someone that frequently drives back and forth from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, EV's in general are impractical. Especially because of the hills in the state that drain gas in petrol vehicles as well. The mileage is over 300 miles and too close to risk being stranded. Hopefully they can increase those margins by 50 miles or so before they become practical.

Why does any of that make it not a car?

You don't get to redefine words to suit your own prejudices.
