Yeah I agree there's nothing wrong with enjoying music from when you were young. I think saying the blanket statement that music as a whole was better at this specific time is not the best way to put it
Ehhhh I disagree. But that's why it's unpopular opinions. My issues is that the music business has prioritized money over art. There's literal companies dedicated to writing quick hooky hits and sell them. I had a friend work for one in Nashville. The days of artists taking their time to write a masterpiece are long gone. And to be honest, our patience as listeners to sit and take in a masterpiece is gone as well. Just my opinion.
That's your opinion tho, they've been using voice filters since the 70s there are plenty of artists that make great music with auto tune it just isn't for you…
Opinions are based on the individual and isn't up for debate. You can change that opinion, but to tell someone they're wrong for saying they enjoy something more than the other is pure ignorance.
No it's just garbage today. Has much to do with artists not getting paid much by streaming services and autotune which has made every song sound the same.
Part of it is only the good music survives, and that is why the music of the past is "better". Give it 20 years and the bad music of today will fade out and only the good will remain.
This is ridiculous. J. Cole, Jorja Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Leon Bridges, etc all make tineless music from this era. I've never met someone who actively listens to the Beatles.
Yeah I whole heartedly disagree lol, people will still be listening to those artists obviously. As a hip hop fan I know people will be listening to Kendrick Lamar Kanye west. Artists like frank ocean jid will be around for a while. A lot of artists from this era have albums that are widely considered to be classics. Yeah this take isn't it there's amazing albums coming out every day….
My guess is that people will still listen to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Prince, and basically no one from the current era.
I doubt this very much. But people will be much more splintered on what they listen to from now on the basis that there's much more music made now than there was in the 1960's and 70's.
Disagree. There are highs and lows across all genres. Some eras are holistically better than others; however, the production of music has obviously improved in relation to technological advancements.
It's an ‘elitist' thing to say that more often than not evokes eye rolls. You're absolutely right, OP.
When you're young, however, music is such a pure experience, I can totally get why someone would think things were better
There is always going to be nostalgia for what you listened to when you were younger, nothing wrong with that imo.
But yeah you're right, please try listening to music genres you know you'd like instead of blanketing everything in a 'NoT aS gOoD aS tHe cLaSsIcS'
Yeah I agree there's nothing wrong with enjoying music from when you were young. I think saying the blanket statement that music as a whole was better at this specific time is not the best way to put it
every generation has its own good music. just cuz half of the music now days is about sex/love doesn't mean it's not good.

Autotunes is not good music.
That's your opinion tho, they've been using voice filters since the 70s there are plenty of artists that make great music with auto tune it just isn't for you…
Yes, it's my opinion.
It can make good singing better, it can't save bad singing tho
I see it as a stylistic device
Well, I'm 16 and I think music from 2012 (when I was 6) is so much better than the music we have now.
Every generation says their music was better. That's just because they have their own nostalgia and culture attached to it.
Opinions are based on the individual and isn't up for debate. You can change that opinion, but to tell someone they're wrong for saying they enjoy something more than the other is pure ignorance.
Music wasn't the same when Buddy Holly died.
but i will say videio games were better when i was younger tho.

YES exactly, I didn't know how to word that so I didn't include it but I meant to put that in here
It's called "survivorship bias"
The boomers can say that they grew up in a fantastic era music wise
I'm not sure this opinion will stand the test of time. Let's check in 20 years.
My guess is that people will still listen to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Prince, and basically no one from the current era.

literally never heard of anyone of those people apart from the beatles.
You never heard of Led Zeppelin and Prince?
no I'm talking about the people you named
Not even joking as a zoomer I know of none off these people besides kendrick lamar who I confused with george clooney
I mean that's fine, any people don't know alot of legends. Jorja Smith and Leon Bridges aren't nearly as big as J. Cole and Kendrick.
Yeah I whole heartedly disagree lol, people will still be listening to those artists obviously. As a hip hop fan I know people will be listening to Kendrick Lamar Kanye west. Musicians made money before YouTube.
What?
I grew up with music mostly from the 2000s.
My music tastes range from the 1930s -1980s. Yeah there's good music after the 80s but not much that i actually listen to regularly.
So yeah i agree with you, it is silly to say music was better when you were young. However i do think music has gotten worse in the past 40 years.
The problem might just be what is popular on the radio nowadays.
