No Italian jail could contain Mario the great escape artist. You see, all of the jail cells in Italy have a toilet and the crafty plumber just keeps warping out to the bonus levels.
I agree that barbecue is better but I still think ketchup is a solid condiment. Maybe it is childish but some days, I really enjoy just a hot dog with ketchup.
I've gotten rid of ketchup completely and switched to Chic Fil A sauce almost exclusively. I do agree that ketchup is the weakest link when it comes to dipping.
Exactly. To say that BBQ sauce is just ketchup with extra sugar or with extra acid have completely missed the boat on any authentic barbeque. There is a rich cultural history behind each different regions' preparation of barbeque. It was born of a social setting where entire communities could come together to enjoy delicious time honored traditions of slow meticulous preparations of meat and condiments that were locally sourced and often made from what was available at the time. They could not individually afford to slaughter an animal or use exotic ingredients and have the means to prepare it properly but as a community, they could all contribute to different aspects of the preparation and feed each other in a ritual of togetherness....and if you showed up with some Heinz with extra sugar and vinegar mixed in, you're probably going to be asked to go last in the buffet line.
Idk, I know it's still really sweet, but even just a hint of a tomato taste is so distinct. It's its own thing really and sometimes it's the only thing that hits the spot perfectly. Definitely don't put it on everything but I also wouldn't cut it out of my life.
Properly seasoned and cooked food is even better. Noatter how good fries are, ketchup always belongs, but I can't think of anything that is improved by BBQ sauce.
I understand how flavourful bbq sauce is as compared to ketchup and can replace ketchup in many dishes for an enhanced flavour. but if you ask me to eat my fries with bbq sauce you are barking up the wrong tree 👀
BBQ is for typical fat Americans who need a bib
Avocado sauce is where it's at
Controversial, I'll allow it
I dislike BBQ sauce other than pulled pork. I also dislike ketchup.
Not on spaghetti I don't think
Don't ever go to Italy or you'll be arrested on sight
I forgot to mention lots of cheese.
That may earn you a reduced sentence.
Italian jail is probably really fun like I bet you just get to play Mario all day or something
No Italian jail could contain Mario the great escape artist. You see, all of the jail cells in Italy have a toilet and the crafty plumber just keeps warping out to the bonus levels.
I do prefer BBQ over ketchup, but I despise gatekeepers.
Agreed 100%. I use bbq or hot sauce instead of ketchup for everything. Except burgers. Those just get mustard.
I like bbq on burgers, especially with a couple onion rings on it too
Spicy Mustard is superior to them all
How do you feel about Mustard based BBQs?
🤌 yess why not :)
I'm particularly about BBQ but I really enjoy sweet bbq's
Avoid Maurice's because they are racists, but there are plenty of others to choose from!
Thanks for the heads up!
Mustard is the true king.
BBQ sauce is too sweet for most things - all you taste is the sauce. Ketchup is far superior for chips, bacon butties, omelettes…
I agree that barbecue is better but I still think ketchup is a solid condiment. Maybe it is childish but some days, I really enjoy just a hot dog with ketchup.
TRUE
No.
I've gotten rid of ketchup completely and switched to Chic Fil A sauce almost exclusively. I do agree that ketchup is the weakest link when it comes to dipping.
I sometimes order bbq sauce with my fries but I prefer ketchup with a generous amount of tobasco sauce mixed in.
BBQ sauce is essentially ketchup with brown sugar
Tf is Catsup.
Exactly
Really cheap ketchup
I could not fathom putting BBQ sauce on a Bratwurst. Good heavens.
Does this mean you would put ketchup on one? Even if a good mustard was available?
Ketchup on a brat is even crazier! Mustard and sauerkraut all the way.
I love bbq sauce and mayo
Mixed together?
Only a bit I'll put them close together and mix them in the center.
Most BBQ sauces are just ketchup with more sugar added.
Wrong
Check the ingredients list.
Yep, you're still wrong
Baby Rays BBQ Sauce ingredients: High Fructose Corn Syrup, Vinegar, Tomato Paste
Heinz Ketchup Ingredients: Tomato Paste, Vinegar, High Fructose Corn Syrup
Baby Ray's is not BBQ
Yes it is.
Found the Zuck!
I'm right there with you. Ketchup sucks, and in inferior to every and any sauce…
Plus spices, and things like liquid smoke.
That makes a huge difference in flavor, even if the ingredients lists is exactly the same beyond "natural flavors" (i.e. the corporate secret sauce).

That's why the spicy or mustard based BBQ sauces are superior.
Careful, these are hard truths for some people
Condiment gate keeping.
I only mix ketchup with mayo
My favorite mixture
Bbq sauce is not king butnits better than ketchup
Bbq sauce is terrible.
But so is ketchup.
With enemies you know where they stand. But Neutrals? Who knows....
To be fair and to clarify, I'm from a country where BBQ sauce is not that popular so there's a fair chance I just never had a good one.
Good ketchup is better than bad BBQ sauce
Bold statement. But what if I told you there were no good ketchups?
Never agreed with something more in my life. Some people just never grew up and put ketchup on everything like a heathen.
Idk, I know it's still really sweet, but even just a hint of a tomato taste is so distinct. It's its own thing really and sometimes it's the only thing that hits the spot perfectly. Definitely don't put it on everything but I also wouldn't cut it out of my life.
You can get fancier ketchup which tastes closer to tomatoes than the cheaper stuff. I love fancy ketchup.
Bbq sauce tends to be too overwhelming for me. I like it but i rarely use it for anything other than marinades
My mother in law introduced me to something called banana sauce, it's red like ketchup but the taste is crazy. Really good with egg rolls
Also, can we just agree that people who say "catsup" are sociopaths?
Smithers! Release the hounds.
A variation of updog
BBQ sauce is literally ketchup with more sugar and acid.
Yes, I'm sure that's the ONLY difference.
Ketchup + brown sugar + vinegar + paprika
Boom, BBQ sauce. Just saying it's a ketchup based sauce. Just like ranch is just fancy mayo.
Not to mention the flavour of a grill that just burned out
This is a crucial ingredient that most people overlook
I agree with this 100%. The only thing I use ketchup for is when I'm making hot dog chili.
I just can't stand the taste of BBQ sauce, so ketchup or soy sauce work for me
Properly seasoned and cooked food is even better. Noatter how good fries are, ketchup always belongs, but I can't think of anything that is improved by BBQ sauce.
Um… maybe ribs? I don't see people putting ketchup on ribs
Ketchup is for tots
Ketchup is the GOAT for fries don't @ me
I understand how flavourful bbq sauce is as compared to ketchup and can replace ketchup in many dishes for an enhanced flavour. but if you ask me to eat my fries with bbq sauce you are barking up the wrong tree 👀
The only thing I eat ketchup with is fries. But even then I like fries with some good ranch more.
I personally disagree but completely understand and appreciate this opinion.
Depends on the bbq sauce.
