Republicans at all levels have gone off the rails. Now, they are talking about jailing women who seek abortions, regardless of the reasons. They are also banning books, bouncing innocent immigrants around like cattle. What theey apparently don't get tghat they are acting just like the nazis did in the run up to WWII. Amirite?

The voters have decided that BrotherJohn is right! Vote on the post to say if you agree or disagree.

While I am not in favor of abbortion, I AM in favor of freedom of choice. Even if that choice is contrary to my beliefs. I mean, what's next: banning inter-racial marriages? My wife is a proud, beautiful African-American whom I love dearly. No one is going to take her away from me. No one.

BrotherJohns avatar BrotherJohn Yeah You Are +5Reply
@TheSimmeringFrog Would you say the same about slavery that still occurs to this day?

Of course not! Are you equating inter-racial marriage to slavery? Enslaving human beings is abhorrent and wrong, regardless of one's culture or belief system. Slavery, by its very nature, projects the belief that some humans are above others. Remember, all are equal in the eyes of God!

@vegan False analogy.

It's not an analogy at all. It's using the same terminology. Apparently, you can't handle the English language without freaking out because you know your position is corrupt. See, you don't make it about abortion. You insist it's about choice. So, all I simply did was ask you if you were anti-choice when it comes to slavery and suddenly it conveniently isn't about choice anymore. It isn't about slavery. All you're simply doing is using language to make your position sound honorable. But when I change the subject, it suddenly doesn't look so attractive. That's all you're doing. But carry on...continue to follow the crowd.

You are comparing abortion to chattel slavery. You don't need to use the pro-choice slogan to see that chattel slavery is objectively immoral. This just comes off as trying to hijack liberal terms.

Anti-vaxxers co-opting the slogan "my body, my choice" from feminism too.

https://www.npr.org/sections/he...hoice-vaccines

Anti-vaxxers appropriate language from the civil rights movements which is offensive and borderline racist.

"In the nation’s most diverse state, protesters opposed to childhood vaccine mandates — many from affluent coastal areas — had co-opted the civil rights mantle from the 1960s, insisting that their plight is comparable to what African Americans have suffered from segregationist policies."* Mackenzie Mays

https://www.politico.com/states...mantle-1188503

Abortion activists also steal the acronym BLM for Babies Lives Matter instead of Black Lives Matter. All of these are false analogies and cheap tactics with no substance.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know "Choice" and ""Anti-Choice" were registered trademarks of the abortion rights crowd.

Democrats used to be very racist, especially southern democrats. However, in the late 1940's, early 1950's a switch began to happen. I think that switch can be attributed to two things:1. Ronald Reagan switched his party membership from democrat to republican. Remember, he used to be president of the Screen Actors Guild in the 1940's. I'm convinced that he did that because the republicans more fully reflected his views. Also: 2. Starting in the late 1940's, democrats became more diverse with more African Americans being members. That triggered a "white flight" to the republican party, including those southern racists. So, the question I have is: What racism do you see being projected on everyone else?

I recommend this documentary.

https://www.pbs.org/show/black-...-still-i-rise/

The liberal north did everything that the conservative south did more sneakily by segregating neighborhoods in lieu of restaurants. The northern liberal Chicago police killed more Black people in Chicago than the KKK in the entire nation.

The fact that Ronald Reagan's dog whistling worked so well was northern whites were just as racist as southern. Race goes across political spectrum and beyond north versus south. See below post for more info.

Well, it's also Associated Press with a capital "A" and capital "P." So why aren't you following your own rules? And it make far more sense since "Associated Press" is an organization while "black" is simply a color or absence of. You need to follow your own rules before preaching to others.

I corrected my minor error. Black is a race while black is a color. This video explains systemic racism and why the difference is relevant.

Cut it with anti-American crap. You're simply dividing races designed to bring the country down. The US never claimed to be perfect and certainly black people have had a rough go of it in the past. The US doesn't deny its' sins. But name me a better country where black people have it better than the United States!

Hi TheSimmeringFrog,

Thank you for presenting your argument. On the contrary I am patriotic. I love America. I just want to make America a little better.

Ad hominem, you are attacking my intent rather than addressing my argument. Canada is much better for racial equity.

On the same topic of education, history, and racism is the poor job we do in some states on education of our young.

"States also reference slavery in some problematic contexts within their standards. In West Virginia's state standards, slavery is listed as an example in a lesson on "explaining the concept of supply and demand in specific historic" situations. In North Carolina's state standards, "immigration of Africans to the American South" is mentioned as part of a lesson on why people move from place to place." By Jericka Duncan, Christopher Zawistowski and Shannon Luibrand

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us...s-the-country/

I find this disturbing because it sounds a lot like minimization of chattel slavery. In a picture in the video the history book makes it seems as if it is promoting the myth that enslaved people actually had a better life in America than in Africa, sickening.

Similar to the idea of "kill the Indian, save the man" which is very wrong headed, American Indians were happier before 1491. No wonder so many white people are confused about race, they are not trolls, they are misinformed and ignorant from inadequate education.

vegans avatar vegan Yeah You Are +3Reply

Another way that the conservatives are acting like WWII villains is by leading the pandemic spread. Similar to letting smallpox spread and typhus in the Warsaw ghetto.

Dems are also off the rails.

@beachbum Dems are also off the rails.

"Dems are off the rails." Really? In what ways? We don't take people's individual rights away from them. The only thing we are trying to ban is civilians owning military related, assault style weapons. That does nothing against the Second Amendment. Republicans, as they are currently structured, want to ban a woman's right to choose, a couple's right to marry whom they choose. Some republicans now want to repeal the 19th Amendment (women's suffrage). They ban, or want to ban books, and the teaching of topics that they see as "devisive" (critical race theory). They don't believe in mask or vaccine mandates even though we are still in the most lethal pandemic seen since the early 1900's. Apparently, the only people they want around are white male anglo-saxons who believe and live as they do. Again, how are Dems off the rail?

The Republicans are more off the rails than Liberals. Democrats have gone off the rails too.

"Survey-takers who self-reported as liberal were also more likely to believe in chemtrails. More than 22% of those polled who believe in chemtrails " Angela Wang

I agree with you beachbum. A small subset of Democrats are off the rails. There are democrat anti-vaxxers and climate change deniers for example. Michael Moore is a climate change denier for example.
