Fun fact: Canned food has been around since at least 1772. The first can opener was patented in England in 1855. Until then, people had to open cans with a chisel and hammer.
Depending on how many cans you open per day just open like a third of them with the P38 and the rest with a typical can opener of your choosing - at least that will cut down on usage for the can opener (SS)
Canned food sucks either way. Who even buys that?
The $5 one I bought 10 years ago is still working well

Have you ever heard of a P38? Get one it'll last a lot longer
Are those harder to use?
Maybe? Not really. It's durability is all I'm saying - you basically are using leverage to cut the can open - but after a few times it comes natural
I don't know if I could handle that being my everyday one, but it would be a hell of a back-up.

I was just about to mention that. I wear one around my neck.
What happens when the pull tab fails?
I've used a hammer successfully.
So you can use a hammer but can openers are too complex?
Some people just find certain tools beyond them.
OP's can opener wasn't a lemon, it was a raisin.
My $10 can opener is excellent and I've had it for years
Sounds like operator error.
