We live on a planet with a atmosphere but all people can't fly.

We live on a planet with a solid crust but most people don't like to dig.

We live on the 3rd planet from the sun, but people would rather be first.

Is that true? I grew up on the Great Lakes, and they gave us mandatory swim lessons on the very well-founded assumption that we'd be playing in or near water at a young age. If you turned six without knowing how to swim, the other kids wondered what was wrong with you.

I guess if you live in the desert or something it's less critical, but I always assume that everyone I meet knows how to swim.

I'm from the UK and I've never met anyone here that can't swim, or at least it hasn't come up. After a quick Google, 88% of brits can swim compared with 56% of Americans.

As someone that's been in the water a lot through my life, I find this shocking

Hmm, do people from the UK count as islanders? Cause most islanders should know how to swim.
