Yes it is an unpopular opinion. I don't like writers who paint protagonists into corners for luck to get them out. I want the protagonist to do something unheard of to solve the problem.

I do believe it was addressed in Rouge Nation that most of the IMF stuff are luck based: "Director Hunley also show a pattern of wanton brinkmanship and a total disregard for protocol.
