+31 Women don't have to shave/wax, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I agree that there's too much stigma against one option and not the other

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah- I feel like if there wasn't so much stigma, many may still shave but more people just wouldn't. Atleast some women shave it all either because they're used to it- or would be aghast that someone spotted arm pit hair or hair on their toes. Some Men rock about with hairy backs 😂- it's only an issue because of pressure on people to look a certain way

I prefer the women shave as the traditional way (at least, traditional in my lifetime) I had a female roommate and her pit hair was way way more than mine (I'm a middle aged man) she probably hadn't shaved in a decade or more...yikes! (it carries the smell of BO more, by the way, she could smell up the whole house easily)

I can understand that this is what you're used to and like. And I can understand that for many women it is also what they're used to and like so they should go ahead and do it, and you should enjoy your preference. But the part I don't get is the hygiene thing- a big proportion of men don't trim or shave anything but their face and it isn't necessarily a hygiene problem. Having said that- the hairy look can attract a certain type of woman I guess.

I think there are degrees to it, to be honest. I have a lanlady and she doesn't shave all her armpit hair, but its not out of control or anything like my past female roommate, the way she does it is "stylish" I guess you could say. She is a sophisticated artist type and I think she likes doing it for artsy reasons. I am fine with it, in that case, because its very "lightly done" and barely noticeable.

It's an equivalent of "living under a rock".

I hate having body hair pretty much anywhere lol. Probably because I was bullied for it so frequently when I was a kid and young teen (and I even have blond body hair so it's not super obtrusive.) I've never understood why people care so much 😅 I like being completely hairless, but I certainly don't see why there should be pressure for other women to feel the same. It's definitely not something someone should be criticized for. Body hair is totally normal.

Curious: do you remove the hair from your arms also? I ask because I notice some women I know shave their pits and legs and toes, and wax their bikini line but leave their arms. And I hate that you were scrutinised and bullied for it!! Like, why does it matter?! I get that if you shave because it makes you feel tidy and put together- but I just think it's cool when there's hair. Even if it's a lot 😜

I do actually! I shave all the areas you mentioned as well as my arms, hands, and fingers (I also shave one half of my stomach but that's only because I have a GJ tube and have to tape it and the tape hurts less if there's no hair 😅). I totally agree!! I honestly hardly notice peoples body hair. But when I do notice someone has hair it definitely isn't a turn off! I think it looks totally fine. I'd say they're aesthetically equal for me. I mostly shave because I like feeling really smooth and soft lol 😅 I was insecure about it for years, but now I'm at the point where if I'm lazy and don't shave for a while I think nothing of it going in public hairy. So personal progress made ✊🏻😂

I would run a mile if I discovered my date had hairy toes!

I consider myself a feminist, but I will always be a feminist who shaves my pits, legs and bikini area. Not every day, aside from pits, but at least once a week. I have been lazy some winters and just let my leg hair grow and I HATE how it feels. Nah. I'll keep shaving thanks.

But OP is right when he says there should be less pressure on women to shave. I do too, and I like it, but I shouldn't be anxious to go out without it.

100% agree. Just my personal preference

by kellie49 4 weeks ago

That feeling when you've just shaved your legs and you've put on lotion and rub your legs together 😍😍😍😍 so smooth, so silky. Then 3 days later I turn into hellraiser.

by kellie49 4 weeks ago

No idea what you being a feminist has to do with this, as long as you don't push your views of shaving on others.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

There's a stereotype that feminists don't shave. Idgaf what other women do or don't do with their body hair. Just expressing my own opinion for myself.

by kellie49 4 weeks ago

So that's your preference, and that's totally fine. I'm a man, and I like to trim my pits and pubes. I just like when I get to be with a woman who doesn't! Actually I would go as far as to say even if it's not someone I find attractive and I spot arm pit hair or fuzzy toes (so at the gym or on holiday or whatever)- it makes me happy 😜

Of course! Whatever floats your boat my guy. The world has room for all of us and I don't judge.

Not a fan of the bush.

I agree, with the exception of the asshole. I don't like hair in my food.

Men should also shave because it looks better.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Hopefully not unpopular anymore. At least I do what I want regarding this anyway because I have to feel good in my skin, not others. And not having burning and itching areas from shaving/waxing definitely makes me feel better.

Men don't have to shave/wax
