When I was growing up in the sticks, it was around an hour to get to into town. I had literal bowl cuts, hand-me downs and no care in the world for how I looked. I'm assuming OP is referring to people of this demographic.

I'm going off my husband's opinion, because he likes them only because his family has bangs and they are incredibly close. Which is cute and very nice. But incredibly biased. Definitely not objective.
