+68 I think Luigi Mangione being caught with the insurmountable evidence is planted. amirite?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I always carry every bit of evidence for my capital crimes so idk what you're talking about.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Right? πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Assuming it's him, Occam's razor suggests he wanted to get caught.

It obviously wasn't very well executed. Dude could have worn a mask to the starbucks or whatever lol

It was the hostel, and I wonder if the front desk person required it

by RegularInteraction15 1 month ago

Iirc she was flirting with him and asked to see his smile.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

nah, i think it's a fall guy

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The "fall guy" is a sexy, white, Ivy Leaguer from the upper classes? THAT'S who you think they'd pick for this???

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This reaction is the exact reason why that would be an effective ploy

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Easy to witness protection away at the end of the "trial"

by Mayanderson 1 month ago

Wait, there weren't and people of color to pin this on. Weak

by Anonymous 1 month ago

They just tell you to do it or they will kill your family.

He's too fine for prison.

by Few-Ambassador 1 month ago

I don't believe this is staged exactly, but I also believe that law-enforcement agencies across the world like to have a quick solution to crimes when they have sufficient pressure to resolve said crime. In other words, I don't believe this is a conspiracy theory, but I also wish other crimes were taken as seriously as killing a CEO.

by era10 1 month ago

I said yesterday to a friend, I would not be surprised if LE realise the killer got away with it and they find a scapegoat.

by Soft-Trouble7860 1 month ago

Murder is easy to get away with if you kill somebody poor that no one cares about. Just don't touch the elite.

by Randyoconner 1 month ago

Some of that stuff is not useful at all. They don't know where he came from or where he was directed, what does it matter if the y know in which bus he was or at what time he left? The wrapper and cup where not confirmed to be his, it was in the street could have been anyone's. And even if it was his, you need someone to have a record to have any use for his fingerprints. Same goes for the DNA. He paid cash for everything, knowing that he paid cash does not help at all. The only thing they had that was actually useful was pictures.

by Soft-Trouble7860 1 month ago

Notice they have all these resources when it's someone 'important'

by Dalecollins 1 month ago

… and here come the conspiracy theories. πŸ™„

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This was a conspiracy theorist honeypot from the get go

by Laurence68 1 month ago

I suspect the dude is an accelerationist and he's preying upon people's sympathies to achieve his goals and guess what he causes a lot of discord among the populace.

by ProudSky4742 1 month ago

You sound like a conspiracy theorist!!!

by Jaqueline64 1 month ago

The line between conspiracy and opinion is rather thin.

No it isn't.

Whats the point in framing a random person?

by Kherzog 1 month ago

Walk up behind guy. Shoot guy. Brilliant plan! πŸ‘

by Rosscollier 1 month ago

My unpopular opinion surround this situation is that I genuinely don't care and it's weird to me how people are reacting about it.

by Common_Shallot 1 month ago

That's OK when you start getting older and getting those big medical bills and get screwed over by your health insurance, you'll look back and go "Oh now I get it".

by gerlachnicolett 1 month ago

I am familiar with health insurance denials and medical bills. I don't think this random CEO dying makes any of that feel less awful.

by Common_Shallot 1 month ago

Agreed. As of now it has literally changed nothing other than execs tightening up security/body guards.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I mean after he died bcbs instantly reversed their "we aren't paying for anesthesia if a surgery lasts past an arbitrary amount of time" that they had JUST implemented. So yeah, these people fearing consequences for their actions absolutely has an effect.

by Fast-Background-780 1 month ago

That is exactly one change and we'll see how long it lasts.

by Common_Shallot 1 month ago

Why is it weird to you? The whole situation points out societal issues that affect everyone living in the US. If you don't care, then you're probably out of touch

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The societal issue is people celebrating an assassination. I'm not saying you need to feel bad for the CEO but jumping for joy at an action that has no actual policy changes is proof that people just want violence or excuses for violence not change.

by roslyn25 1 month ago

seems like he was having a manic episode. he had a spinal surgery and people said he changed after that, which can happen. planting this on someone is harder than just killing someone.

by Successful_Will 1 month ago

In a lot of cases involving intelligent criminals, they tend to show off their brilliance by leaving messages or signatures, which usually ends up being their fall as well. It is quite possible he fell for it too

by Spirited-Cod 1 month ago

I don't know why but I really don't think it's him.

by Few-Ambassador 1 month ago

You're making that statement without much of an explanation

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Way too neatly wrapped up....complete with murder weapon AND written manifesto ? If it looks to good to be true it probably is..... This guy planned the whole thing, why wasn't the gun tossed into the Hudson River ? He didn't go camping for a week ? Does not add up....

by Jamie46 1 month ago

Yes. Exactly The NYPD and FBI together came up with a package of incriminating evidence, including a gun, a manifesto, and the fake IDs he used in NY. Then…. They made a bazillion copies of all of that and overnighted it to every podunk police department in the US (and maybe Canada) so that whoever found a guy that looked like the pictures first could plant the evidence and win a $1 million prize for their department. Yeah. That's easier to believe than a guy with an axe to grind carrying his manifesto with him, in case he got killed. /S

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I just hope he doesn't say a word and gets a lawyer immediately

by Lstamm 1 month ago

Waaaaaaaaa

by milo82 1 month ago

It's not staged. It's a young, super smart kid with a passionate hate for our healthcare system who did a decent job of covering his tracks but wasn't a trained assassin so he got caught. Or, they just got the wrong guy and that'll come out in the next day or so. But come on, we're better than this. This is probably the kid that did it and he simply got caught.

by Ok_Conference_6212 1 month ago

This is only unpopular with the FBI, NYPD, and the mainstream media.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Can you imagine the pressure on those cops to arrest someone? All the rich people in the country breathing down their necks with Trump about to be sworn in...I'm surprised they didn't arrest the first immigrant lookalike they came across.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

He seems like a nice kid!

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Ppl have also pointed out the this guy doesn't match the original image of the shooter

by kautzerrafaela 1 month ago

But he does perfectly

by Jerdelinwood 1 month ago

I was thinking he was too smart for this too. Maybe he wanted the anticipation on motivation to build for a few days then reveal on purpose.

by ressie95 1 month ago

I don't think they would want us all to know if he's still on the loose.
