Ignorance isn't bliss, in reality it's a dangerous handicap, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's both.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not in my opinion.
Any ill knowledge of potential harm is a set back.

But if you didn't know about it, you wouldn't have to worry about it. So maybe it's temporary bliss, but it's still a form of bliss.

But for people like me, who suspect inpending doom around every corner, ignorance is your worst enemy.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Ah, so you're saying that knowledge vanquishes fear. That is also true.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah.. sure... that's what I was getting at. :P

But fear and knowledge are different. Knowing of impending doom and being afraid of impending doom are two different things. Not knowing that the world is going to end until it does is more peaceful than knowing your own expiration date, while worrying about the world's impending doom shows a different kind of ignorance.

Fear is a strong word... I'm not SCARED something will happen, I KNOW something will happen.
by Anonymous13 years ago
So wouldn't being ignorant of that make you happier?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, not really. Because whether I know of it or not it will happen.
And I'd want to be ready for it.
