Being attracted to intelligence is not wrong and not ableist/classist! amirite?
by Anonymous2 months ago
Wanting to be in a relationship with an intelligent person is in no way whatsoever politically incorrect.

OP is arguing with shadows lol

Where is that listed One person's opinion certainly doesn't qualify as the popular opinion
by BeachResponsible77402 months ago
Literally see it all the time on dating profiles and it gets to the point where they're saying you're a horrible person if you are sapiosexual or whatever!
by Anonymous2 months ago
If that's true I guess you're having an outlier experience with dating apps. Don't worry about the opinions of idiots. They are, after all, idiots.
by BeachResponsible77402 months ago
True, but I feel like it's a part of a bigger trend of calling EVERYTHING under the sun classist or ableist while not actually caring about people who need help. It's so infuriating because it's self-serving and they're just trying to be woke!

I hear you. On a serious note, please be careful letting this kind of stuff get to you. It destroyed my relationship with my dad and I started doing it too. There are some things we can't do anything significant about, and letting yourself get mad about it only hurts yourself and the people around you. "It is what it is."
by BeachResponsible77402 months ago
Yeah, that's fair....it does happen....but I honestly think that in this case it happened enough times with strangers online to make me take note and raise an eyebrow.
by Anonymous2 months ago
I'm confused, tons of people are specifically including their disapproval with this on their profile?
by Anonymous2 months ago
FetLife is a wildly biased sample pool.
by BeachResponsible77402 months ago
Agreed, but it seems to offend so many people nowadays!
by Anonymous2 months ago
Not in the real world
by Anonymous2 months ago
Nor in the internet world
by Anonymous2 months ago
Wait I'm not supposed to be attracted to someone for there brain? I've been doing it wrong. Better just stick with ass and titties then.
by Anonymous2 months ago
Yeah you've got to go touch some grass, literally nobody is saying that.
by Anonymous2 months ago
Meh...
by Anonymous2 months ago
I don't think the association of intelligence with tertiary education helps - a lot of people assume that if you don't have a degree or higher, you're not intelligent. Obviously this isn't true.
by Acceptable_Ebb11872 months ago
Agreed! Intelligence has nothing to do with education level!
by Anonymous2 months ago
Yeah, it gets silly very quickly. I see it all the time....even people in my generation (millennial) saying stuff on their dating profiles like "you're a monster if you are sapiosexual" or something like that!
by Anonymous2 months ago
Did you just make up an issue then pretend you an unpopular opinion on said imaginary issue? It's not po0litically incorrect to like someone who is smart.
by Anonymous2 months ago
I know it's not, but I keep seeing this on people's dating profiles. Why are you assuming I made it up just because it's not your experience?
by Anonymous2 months ago
An experience someone has doesn't define general issues. General issues are on a level of tons of people, population even. You yourself and a single occurrence you had doesn't define something that everybody else is doing.
by Anonymous2 months ago
The right answer is to tune out of a conversarion when you hear "ableist" or "classist".
by Otherwise-Play-98962 months ago
Hmmm....depends....because some things in society really are ableist....like public spaces that cannot be easily accessed by people who use wheelchairs. I just hate it when people use these words out of context and just to whine about their own insecurities, which is what I think those people were doing. They were probably just insecure about their level of intelligence so they tried to present it as a social issue and legitimize it that way!
by Anonymous2 months ago
People had a problem with this?
by Ill_Pin_78422 months ago
I've literally never heard anyone say that finding intelligence attractive is ableist or classist. I mean yeah, you're right, I agree with you. But who the hell believes otherwise?
