Media critics contribute less to society than prostitutes, amirite?
by Anonymous5 days ago
This man watched Steven A Smith for 5 minutes and already had enough
by WonderfulGround5 days ago
That man is either so unfathomably stupid that I don't know how he ties his velcro shoes or he is actively lying to stir up drama on purpose. Either way, I hate everything he stands for, and sports on a whole would be better if he lost the ability to speak.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Im convinced it's all an act. He actively makes everyone hate him for engagement.
by Nferry5 days ago
I agree, and I despise him even more because of it. He's lying. On purpose. And I hate him with my whole being because it.
by Anonymous5 days ago
What's he lying about?
by Jumpy_Ingenuity5 days ago
It is an act lol…
by Anonymous5 days ago
He's playing a character, the very fact that you hate him so much is what makes him so much money lol.
by Anonymous5 days ago
I don't want to hate on that man, but.... he should shut the F up sometimes....

Whats your problem with prostitutes?
by Itzellangosh5 days ago
The thing about critical theory of any sort is that you don't have to engage with it to enjoy the thing. Sorry someone made you feel dumb or doesn't like the thing you like like you like it. Also critical theory is meant to be engaged with, so if you disagree…that's kind of the point. Your role would be to respond critically, rebuking the points you disagree with.

What do you farts smell like? I know you know.
by Dean155 days ago
A hundred percent. I like to debrief and analyse after consuming something. It heightens the experience!
by greenfelderarma5 days ago
The sane thing can be said about yours and mine.
by Anonymous5 days ago
ah, dang it!
by marianoschuster5 days ago
Critics also provide perspectives on media that you might not have considered in the first place, possibly increasing your enjoyment. It's not like they just write thumb up or thumb down.
by BitPuzzleheaded40245 days ago
I very much enjoyed your last paragraph
by Turbulent-Flan31285 days ago
One may debate what is a good piece of media or what is not and whether the present crop of critics are doing their job properly or not all they want. My point is we need art criticism in general and it can't be dismissed as meaningless.

Many prostitutes contribute a great deal to society and have for as long as humanity has existed. Literally the oldest profession. Unless you mean to say that prostitution contributes nothing to society in that the abuse and exploitation negate the overall benefit of legalized, regulated prostitution. Because one statement maligns the individual while the other addresses the institution, as a whole.
by Anonymous5 days ago
just want to say that's an exotic username
by Anonymous5 days ago
I totally agree with this!
by elias995 days ago
it is not the oldest ‘profession' lmfao
by Schummjaniya5 days ago
I think its Cobol Developer.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Prostitutes contribute a lot though. They offer quite a well needed service, and that's why they have been around for centuries.
by Neither-Guess-47055 days ago
They offer quite a well needed service, and that's why they have been around for centuries. More so that humans natural instincts don't go away easily. By that logic, toys would've been "necessary" because humans crafted them for a long time.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Toys are necessary. Humans need entertainment.
by Anonymous5 days ago
I dont follow.
by Anonymous5 days ago
How are you guys saying prostitution and toys are necessities and don't see nothing wrong with it
by Hiram895 days ago
Entertainment has been a basic human need since the dawn of people. And i didnt say anything about prostitution being a necessity
by Anonymous5 days ago
You literally implied so. Entertainment don't need to be prostitution and toys. It's like saying ribeye is a necessity because we need food to survive. Those are luxury
by Hiram895 days ago
Still not a necessity, you don't need a stick to survive, there's no point continuing this conversation
by Hiram895 days ago
Correct, toys provide a necessary service/experience.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Well, depends on what's defined as "necessary". Are we talking about survival or emotional outlets?
by Anonymous5 days ago
Of course it adds value. I use Metacritic to decide if a game/movie/show is worth my time, as it aggregates critics and gives the consensus view. It's steered me clear from dozens of products that would have wasted my time. I don't understand this take at all.
by greenfelderarma5 days ago
You are correct but metacritic and all these 'game journalists' recently were straight up garbage.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Maybe individually they are, I can't speak to that, but again, in aggregate, the consensus opinion is valuable and rarely off base.
by greenfelderarma5 days ago
This☝️
by Anonymous5 days ago
There's so much to unpack here. Anyone care to take a stab?
by Anonymous5 days ago
Prostitutes contribute more to society than A.I., of that I'm certain of.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Most people contribute nothing to society in general so this isn't surprising. And prostitution is a multi millennial profession. So yeah you are right.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Prostitutes are a weird yard stick to use. They contribute a fair bit...
by Anonymous5 days ago
"The average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."
by Hansoconner5 days ago
Well yeah they take themselves too seriously. And most times the people they critique are considerably more successful than them.
by Anonymous5 days ago
If you think media criticism just boils down to " I like/don't like something" you're already terminally wrong. If you think prostitutes are a good example of a group of people that don't contribute to society then you're so wrong about so many things that you need to reset yourself to factory defaults and start over.
by evelinemaggio5 days ago
You're at least 15 years late to the idea that people make a living talking about their niche interests online and that people like reading and listening to it. What, did one of them criticize a game you like or something and now you're here to pretend you've never heard of these people until now?
by Anonymous5 days ago
"Man takes to social media to critique media critics"
by Acceptable_Remote2665 days ago
At least hookers provide a valuable service which people are willing to pay for.
by HorrorInstruction7615 days ago
every "critic" on youtube has the same copy pasted tumblr girl or facebook boomer personality and they all think they did something lmao
by Anonymous5 days ago
I think someone like Roger Ebert definitely contributed heavily to the language and understanding of film and media, especially for the average consumer. Good critics teach us a lot about media literacy and understanding the product we're consuming. Opinions are important, especially in the arts and media, because they also stimulate public discourse in many other facets of our society. And discourse itself is EXTREMELY important for any functioning society.
by Dense_Historian5 days ago
I'll go one further, there are taverns in the United States that are older than the idea that an actor is someone worthy of respect, that they're not in the same social strata as prostitutes and pickpockets.
by Affectionate-Age5 days ago
That comparison is a bit insulting to sex workers, don't you think?
by Hamillelisha5 days ago
This is a very big attack against all the prostitute reviewers out there.
by AdAutomatic98315 days ago
In this era driven by entertainment, there is in fact a demand for reviewers and the like to tell us whether to see this movie, buy this game, etc. To say that's worse than a profession that can actively ruin relationships and lives is a bit far if you ask me.
by Anonymous5 days ago
Is this an unpopular opinion or fact?
by Anonymous5 days ago
I agree with you but for different reasons. Prostitution has existed forever and it helps reduce sexual crimes rates. The USA is probably the only advanced non-islamic county that keeps it illegal.
