Grinding Towards Oblivion: The Hustle Culture Trap, amirite?
by mmurphy5 days ago
Good title for a documentry, but not an unpopular opinion. Most people can look at these "Hustlers" and "Grinders" and know they are wearing themselves down to nothing.

Just depends who you ask. Normal people don't want to "grind."

The land of opportunity. It isn't for everyone.

Mind being more specific? Sorry I don't understand your point? I'm aware that life has winners & losers.

America is a competition. Build a better mouse trap. Come across the vast ocean with a few dollars in your pocket without being fluent in English and become a millionaire. Folk are still, a couple of hundred years later, coming here in search of a better life. If not for them, then for their children. Working hard and striving for success is a part of the national DNA. Look at the hipsters from the ‘60's who ended up at Wall Street. But it's also not for everyone. Some folk are happy just getting by. And that's fine. But complaining when you choose not to compete feels pointless to me.

Fair enough. I've never seen Americans as a people. We will come together when necessary for survival, but we're not big on " the greater good". On a basic level, America is a business. I'm fine with that.

Trying to get ahead isn't an act of rebellion. Nor is it meant to be.

Hustling and grindset mentality are the worst things I've ever seen online. Like we get it, you have to work for your money. Do you want a cookie?

Is that why couriers don't give a crap anymore if my packages are delivered to the right address or on time?

"Learning skills that produce a career" is not the same as "hustle culture" lol.

Ahh yeah, would definitely agree with that.

What was it called when my grandparents got up at dawn and worked in fields and canneries all day only to go home and collapse with exhaustion? Should they have stayed in and relaxed instead?
