-45 Not Like Us isn't that good, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

No way. The beat is incredibly catchy, the lyrics are sharp, witty, and unique, and it's the epitome of a diss track.

by xsmith 1 month ago

And it was so effective Drake shut up and cried like a lil' bitch

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Not only that, but he filed a lawsuit for damages, which is hands down the absolute worst way to lose a rap battle.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Drake just count your money isn't that good enough?

by Harrisalbertha 1 month ago

Drake cries when he drops a cheeto on the floor, it's not that much of an achievement

by Alternative_Date_247 1 month ago

Such a good diss track, drake is suing his own label over it. I don't think he ever recovers.

by Jaydongorczany 1 month ago

The OP isn't even American, so of course he doesn't β€˜get it'

by corwinraymond 1 month ago

Americans are so egocentric, your lack of awareness past your nose doesn't affect the rest of us.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You just simply can't understand the song if you weren't raised in America, especially Black America.

by corwinraymond 1 month ago

Y'all are just mad a biracial Canadian (of partial Black American lineage btw) outdid (and continues to outdo) the full Black American rappers. That's what this whole "beef" was about. Drake will always have a bigger global impact and better numbers than little Kenny, and boy does that make the "culture" seethe. LMAO

by Anonymous 1 month ago

for American hip hop and the American music scene, yes it absolutely does matter. you're calling them ego centric yet i think that describes you.

by Krista10 1 month ago

This point is pretty stupid, the dude who the dis-track is about isn't even American.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

i forgot hip hop started in canada.

by Krista10 1 month ago

That's kinda the point of some of the disses Kendrick sent. He a middle to upper class Canadian dude that's pretending to be a gangster from the hood black American in a lot of his songs. Culture vulture was the rhyme. Not saying you can't make gangster rap as a middle class dude, just don't pretend you weren't in real life.

by Jaydongorczany 1 month ago

Sometimes there are nuances that you just can't understand without being there. You don't understand the cultural impact because you cannot see it.

by creminraheem 1 month ago

obviously you don't understand the context and it's definitely because you're not american and especially because you're not black

by Anonymous 1 month ago

A lot of pop songs are catchy, doesn't necessarily make them good imo. I also think the lyrics are corny.

by UnitedWalk 1 month ago

you are hearing something different, what kind of music do you like? thats a wild statement

by Anonymous 1 month ago

are they really that witty and unique tho? the A minor punchline is unoriginal and extremely old

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Where did you first hear the A-minor punchline? To me, it was original. I could just be the minority though

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Are those "sharp, witty and unique" lyrics in the room with is rn?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

ok drake

by Bradley71 1 month ago

It's because they get a dopamine rush from saying a minor together

by Anonymous 1 month ago

So it's not a great rap song, but a moment in history or a weapon. Should it get an award for that?

by Alternative_Date_247 1 month ago

Yeah. Cultural significance of that magnitude..

by Disastrous-Web 1 month ago

No matter how Kendrick wrote, no matter what beat he picked, anyone that understands lyricism at all knows Drake could never.

Meet the Grahams is legendary

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Sorry bro but your vibe is the polar opposite of "I love fun" 😭

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Oof same for you bud.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Not liking this track means I don't like fun? What a comprehensive take you have on my actions and behaviours from not liking one song. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Well back in the day if you made good diss tracks you got shot.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah, no, not many hip-hop beefs reach that point. Let's remember we've seen more than enough to know that Tupac and Biggies death were to do with Suge and Diddy. The few that reach that far, it's usually their friends that end up getting shot.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Pretty Sure Pac's death is because he whipped some random gangbanger's ass and the dude shot him in retaliation. Biggie's tho…

by No-Spread 1 month ago

No, enough has been uncovered to prove that Suge set it up because Pac wanted to leave the label.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I also just don't like Kendrick Lamar's music

by Ill-Appearance8732 1 month ago

Yeah he sucks Would be so nice being in hip hop, chances are you don't need any talent lmao

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Pretty terrible song

by Bgoyette 1 month ago

The voice he uses ruins it.

by Ferrycarmen 1 month ago

I love his quirky voices. Makes it fun.

by Johnstonhollis 1 month ago

dude is talented but has such awful voices

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It got overplayed to death. I guess I'll revisit it in 20 years to see if it was actually a good song

by bartonhilton 1 month ago

I think it's a song that is only so good with the context of the beef and it's not like (us) we can deny the context entirely when rating it.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Should the Grammys judge based on context and story, or should it be pure music? Should they give a terrible artist with a touching life story the award?

by Alternative_Date_247 1 month ago

Can anything be experienced outside of its context??

by Hattie87 1 month ago

If you listened to it entirely the meaning. Oils ask be him saying they not like us is white people not like Black people hence him talking about how Black people were in chains back in the day etc

by Mammoth-Ad442 1 month ago

MGK never had a chance to win that, doesn't matter how good the tracks are just based on who he is and who Em is.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I do not disagree at all, never ever stood a chance, what I said is he made a better effort than Kendrick and Drake. Then look at Killshot. That's a diss track, made a man switch genres and become a fashion accessory.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yep. Made the kid switch genres he got bodied so bad

by Nearby_Bed9816 1 month ago

Haha better in what way

by Hattie87 1 month ago

When I say better, I mean, firstly not better than Em. That was never happening. I mean, with his lack of any discernible talent put up a better fight against Eminem someone who was always going to destroy him, than Kendrick an incredibly talented artist did against an easy listening artist like Drake.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

can you actually articulate why you think it was bad, u have given 0 explanation why you think this way. all youve said is "the beef was bad kendick bad drake bad"

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Where's your Grammy?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Euphoria >>> Not Like Us. Fact.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Euphoria doesn't get enough attention because Not Like Us is so popular. 6min+ songs are difficult to get people to listen to repeatedly though.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Euphoria is for sure better, but the brilliance of NLU is how catchy and commercial it was. Kendrick intended for NLU to be the song everyone was going to sing and it succeeded.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Same. I heard so much hype but when I finally listened to it for the 1st time: straight garbage.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Song was made for white people to feel more allied to "real" black people and reject adjacent black culture (Drake). You see how white people get super excited about it? They want to feel "in the know of the real culture".

by Character-Skirt 1 month ago

Weak ass boomer style opinion. There's so much good hip-hop that clears 90s stuff, which was obviously a special era. Honestly don't think anybody with real familiarity to the genre can say this

by Hattie87 1 month ago

Hip hop isn't dead, but damn the 90's had that chill vibe.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I mean I'm white and always hated Drake so I'm not sure on that one

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Good for you!

by Character-Skirt 1 month ago

Kendrick making music for white people? LMAO. What???

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Kendrick Lamar is the type of rapper white people need to like to feel good about being white and an ally. From a political perspective that's the play here. Drake is Vanilla Ice compared to KL in today's money.

by Character-Skirt 1 month ago

What?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

How can someone speak so confidently on hip hop when they clearly don't like or understand it?

by Interesting_Ball_492 1 month ago

Never said I was taking side but sure if it makes you feel better, you child.

by Character-Skirt 1 month ago

Bet you'd like if I was a child lmao

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Kendrick went for the trendy/catchy with this song specifically to show, among other things, that he COULD be like Drake - the nr. 1 generic hip-hop artist - if he wanted to. He just doesn't. Listen to Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers (the album) and tell me if that is meant to be trendy/catchy.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I like it

It's really not something to get the plebs talking tho

Found drakes alt account

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It's a diss track and people LOVE drama so that is a huge bust to it.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It was better than drakes? Family matters is pretty much better overall. However I understand the impact of not like us and the meaning.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Drake fanboy spotted

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah Drake is worse, shame you can't read.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I read what you typed. It's a typical soft-pro-Drake position recently to say things like "this whole beef wasn't even worth it" or "none of these diss tracks were very good" because they feel it mitigates the damage that Kendrick did

by Anonymous 1 month ago

its very fun and thats why people love it. theres tons of witty bars and that makes it a good diss track. however i liked euphoria way more personally

by jacquelynparker 1 month ago

No lol.

by Complex_Rush_7516 1 month ago

I agree I've never understood the hype I can't stand Kendricks voice. But I do recognize that he's talented, just not for me.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The number 1 priority of the Grammys is highlighting popular songs and artists. Doesn't mean a good song, album, or artist can't win, but popularity is the number 1 criteria. Not Like Us was the most popular diss track to come out last year so it makes sense that it gets the rewards even though Euphoria is a better diss track to me overall. Not Like Us isn't a bad song though imo.

by Ckub 1 month ago

I agree. I love Kendrick too and he destroyed Drake but it's just not what I listen to when I want to listen to rap or even Kendrick. I think people just have like a hate boner for calling out pedos which is a great mindset but that does not make the music GOOD imo.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I actually agree with this, it's kind of a meh song especially for Kendrick. The drama around the beef is what's driving its popularity imo

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Found Drake's alt

by Johnstonhollis 1 month ago

lamar sucks dmx is better

by Rutherfordkrist 1 month ago

It's not beyond belief. The song being overplayed doesn't make it bad. It's an amazing song, and it wasn't meant to be the big diss. It was meant to be a "dancing on your grave" type song. It hit #1 in many categories, have longevity, and was the biggest song in 2024. It deserved those Grammys

by Anonymous 1 month ago

That might be but culturally that song was an insane event. And a significant part of pop music in general is about cultural significance, and a part is musical virtuosity. Not Like Us spiked on the first one.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The song just sucks in general

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Just a bunch of uncultured white people talking about a song thats not even meant for them to understand. How original

by Mammoth-Ad442 1 month ago

It's hard for me to articulate, but I agree. I feel like it's more so carried by the fact that drake is such an easy target and easily unlikable, rather than actually being something novel or technically impressive like Kendrick is usually praised for.

by Stock_Hyena 1 month ago

Great music can't be popular as its released. People don't "get" great music instantly. Popular music takes a bunch of elements of great older music and meshes them together. Then people find some part of the song catchy. Not Like Us is no different. But, it went a step further. Not Like Us got people in a frenzy and excited to call this man's sworn enemy a pdf file in unison. Over and over again. In terms of pop music thats brilliant. People still play the song out of sheer spite. I don't think Ive ever heard a grammys crowd shout in unison during a walk up while a song plays in the background. This song was catchy enough and struck a common nerve. It also carries a big regional significance that I can observe but can't understand since Im not from there.

by Background-Okra-1852 1 month ago

Nah it's great. The beat is perfect, his rapping is great, and the lyrics do exactly what they're meant to do

by Herzogmisty 1 month ago

At least you have a constructed point and not just that I must be a Drake or a paedophile when I can't stand his music. I still see the nickelodeon kid in a wheelchair and can't take a thing he says seriously.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

No I feel you, as good as NLU is for a lot of us it's inevitable that it doesn't hit for everyone. I accept your decision to not like it, I just can't agree with your rationing that it just "isn't good" lol. Just don't think that one was for you

by Excellent_Painter 1 month ago

he doesn't understand the context

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It's the Grammy's. What do you expect?

by filomenaeffertz 1 month ago

The Grammys does not cover it being played at several events, it doesn't cover the people hyping it up, it won those grammys for a reason. If the results this year didn't prove it's become a glorified popularity contest I don't know what will.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It's not just popularity though. It's impact and the song was a big cultural shift (not for everybody obviously) but to those who know, will know. Clearly you don't.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This isn't the startling revelation you think it is, but I'm glad you got there in your own time

by Interesting_Ball_492 1 month ago

Except I was already there. As you can see I'm explaining it for someone who's not. 🫠

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You're right, my bad OP

by Interesting_Ball_492 1 month ago

They gave a country award to someone that has never done a country song

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It's a terrible song, not sure why this is unpopular

by Germaine38 1 month ago

Oh neither am I but it is unpopular. For some reason.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I think the problem is the urban music in general is dog πŸ’© so it's like dropping a decent song in a pool full off poop, it's going to grab some attention. That being said, I'm not a fan. Don't like the beat, hate his voice. Its catchy for sure, that's in its favor

by Anonymous 1 month ago

you're objectively wrong about this

by Anonymous 1 month ago

No, he's not. Kdot goes , but peeps aloud to not like it. Different strokes.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

are you speaking in riddles or something

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Of course he didn't. The argument for Kendrick's track being good is that you must love Drake and be a paedophile if you disagree, really highlights what's good about the song. If that's your argument that's not even shaky ground that's cracking ice.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

As if Kendrick doesn't abuse his wife or anything πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

by No_Chest 1 month ago

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Cool didn't know you could do this

by Anonymous 1 month ago

What tf are you doing here Drake

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'm sorry does having an unpopular opinion require effort now? Do elaborate.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Sure, you hate Not Like Us. Great

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I've hated Drake for the longest time, the way he tried to ingratiate himself into UK urban culture only further made me hold disdain for him.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Even drake knows the song catchy asf

by Hattie87 1 month ago

I agree with you actually. I wasn't a big fan of it

by Anonymous 1 month ago
