+47 Tuna is better raw than cooked, amirite?

by Whole_Detective 4 months ago

Definitely agree. Most fish taste better raw than cooked, except for freshwater fish. So far, I haven't found a cooked fish that I prefer more than a raw one. That applies to most seafood as well except crab. Not sure why crabs just doesn't taste good when it is raw. (Like korean soy sauce crab)

I agree sushi tuna is so good but everything else is not

not exactly unpopular considered that various forms of raw tuna like sashimi, crudo, tartare, etc are EXTREMELY popular round the world. The blue fin stuff from Japan costs several fortunes as well canned tuna still has its place thougg

I think raw Tuna would be palatable to more people than raw Salmon since it's more firm and less fatty.

I think this might be a popular opinion.

Grilled Tuna steak is also a fine option. If you want Tuna cooked just don't cook it all the way.

by Ivoryleuschke 4 months ago

Definitely agree as a Japanese. Tuna was meant to either be served raw or just lightly seared.

Is this even unpopular? People love sushi. How many people even eat cooked tuna outside of the canned stuff (which is often a struggle meal)?

by Franeckiverda 4 months ago

Have you tried it nice and thick, seared on the outside and just warm in the middle? I catch a lot of tuna fishing and even Albacore tastes great this way. I also eat a lot raw (sashimi, poke, kokonda).

Depends on what part of the tuna and the type of tuna. But generally yes

I think raw fish in general tastes better than cooked, but with that said I eat canned tuna very often lol. Aside from that though I don't eat cooked seafood often aside from shrimp and crab every once in a while and rarely cooked salmon (since for some reason cooked salmon makes my stomach hurt but raw doesn't)
