Have you checked my profile?

I have now. You have some clips of pigs that obviously have some large outdoor enclosure which is already prohibitive to most people. It's also very different to keeping them as indoor pets the way someone might keep a dog or cat. I'm immediately cautious of any pet owner who doesn't have a list of downsides to their species of choice. At best, you're not actually giving a fair representation of what keeping pigs is like. Maybe because you have the facilities to do so you don't realise how demanding that is for most people. I don't know. But acting as though there aren't some major tradeoffs for choosing a pig over a cat is silly.

Yeah I love all animals. I just ment to say they are low maintenance as pets and more rewarding than people think.

I don't ever have to pick my pigs up. That is done for social media or their once a year for hoof or tusk trim. A dog will bark 40 times a day vs a pigs one scream a year.

I used to help out at my grandpa's (small) farm and we constantly handled the few pigs we had. Very dramatic. They are noisy for sure when left alone as well. I have never had a pig in a house so maybe their behavior changes then. Either way I'm not here to compare animal species that are vastly different from one another and say that one is better than the other. They're all pretty cool in their own ways imo. I'm so curious tho, what's your pig's name?

yeah but pigs are pretty large animals so they won't be better as pets to people who live in small houses or apartments

Yes as I mentioned you do need a large enclosure.

It's funny that you claim I don't own pigs but do you?

lol it would be really relevant because then you would know what you are talking about. Not lying about anything, but if you want to think so okay. They are cheap to feed, it has to be economical for people to grow them for food. You can google souther state feed bag prices and how much they eat a day if you don't believe me. It interesting you bring up their poop as well bc since they eat a 99% vegan diet, their poops are amazing for the soil. They have grown gourds, papayas and many other plants from their poop. Unlike the toxic poop of cats and dogs.

Why do I need to have a pig in my house to know about pet pigs? The reason I said what I did is because I think your OP gives a false impression of the difficulties and barriers that there are to keeping them as pets. That impression doesn't change if it turns out that actually you're lucky enough that you can have a large outdoor enclosure and space to let them roam. It just makes me think you were being misleading, which was my point.

Lol I don't have a large space and fireworks happen once a year. I'm sure pigs are great tho.

Pigs are fat and ugly Cats are not

One problem - Most people get pets because they think they're adorable. 99% of people don't find pigs adorable except for when they're babies cuz they're babies.

I think they are beautiful but to each their own. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It is! I do agree they sound like excellent pets. A lot of people just don't find them very appealing from a "cuteness" stand point which is probably why they aren't more common pets.

But the major benefit they bring over those others is that it's not frowned upon to eat the pig lol

Exactly. You get a lifelong friend and a good meal.

They cannot be potty trained. That's basically the line where indoor and outdoor pets vs livestock is drawn.

They're very tasty, too.
